Hello,
My name's Jameson. I'm an avid tabletop rpg gamemaster and player who grew up playing Avalon Hill and SPI board games and Dungeons & Dragons. My experience with wargaming has mainly been with The Lord of the Rings Strategy Battle Game and Flames of War.
I'm interested in getting together a game of Warband or, since Pendraken has a good Ancients line, maybe Warmaster Ancients.
Thanks,
Jameson
Hi Jameson, welcome to the Forum!

Welcome Jameson :-h
You have certainly come to the right place for Warband or any other help you need, feel free to ask any question and someone helpful will be sure to respond :)
There may also be some 'entertaining' responses as well but they are mainly harmless ;D

True ! X_X.....A very friendly and knowledgeable bunch here.....Though some appear to be as mad as a box of frogs. (No names, no pack drill ;))
A very warm welcome, Jameson. :-h

Don't worry about the Limeys. They haven't forgiven you for beating them, that's all.
Dear Mr Thornton,
Welcome to the forum. In my humble opinion, you should try the ancients. Then you'll want to try the medieval ranges, and then you'll wonder about the advent of gunpowder and the next thing you know you'll be slavering over the new British Napoleonics (which are very, very good), then being from the wrong side of the pond you'll need the ACW range. By that time you'll be missing something solid, and you'll have watched "Fury" or something, and you'll have this absurd notion that Sherman was a good tank and you will have to have some WWII.
By that time, you'll be thinking "Ah the good old days when I played Warband." Pendraken will have introduced it's new range of Trappist Elf Marine Horse Artillery and you'll begin the cycle all over again.

Oh! If you're from Brooklyn do you have that adorable accent that one sees on those rather grisly cinematic entertainments? How louche!
If so, some phonetic spelling would be so cute!
I'm gonna Moider da bum!
Kermit the FSN
And that is FSN!
Hello and welcome.
A hearty welcome to the Brooklynite.
Good man on the Warband front. It's good to see the fantasy madness make it to the Big Apple. I look forward to seeing your splendid armies suitably daguerreotyped. As others have said, once 10mm gets in your blood, the options are endless, since with very few exceptions Pendraken do a range of products for 'it' (whatever your particular'it'is).
Have fun here sir. Its hard not to!

Wotcha and welcome from the Garden of England.
Welcome on board Jameson :).
Welcome Jameson, I hope you find the forum informing and fun.
We have nothing against our cousins across the pond, despite the fact that they were late for two historic events in the Twentieth century. :D
Hi Jameson,
welcome to the forum, I hope you will find it as interesting, helpful and amusing as I have!
As to the "mad as a box of frogs" ... I couldn't possibly comment ... but considering some of the responses above .... :D

Welcome Jameson
I've been to Brooklyn, spent half a day there, walked over the Manhattan Bridge from Manhattan and back via the Brooklyn Bridge. Must go again sometime.
I'm a Warmaster player and I'm just getting into Warband. A key feature of my juncture of rulesets is the use of sabot bases. This will allow me to use lots of my figures without rebasing.

In the amphibian world they say "Brek-kek-kek-kek, koax, koax", which means "Mad as the Pendraken forum".

It's rare one finds something is both interesting, amusing and insane!
Hello :) Or "ribbit", for some reason.
How do you apologise to a witch? -------------------------> ribbit! ribbit! brek-kek-kek-kex!
Oh...and...there are a lot of Brits on here.
We'll take some getting used to for the average Murcan (so my Murcan friends tell me).
In particular, when we like someone, they get made fun of...so...expect a lot of, 'America. Taken completely by surprise at Pearl Harbour. TWO YEARS into a global war. Amateurs.' Etc...
;)
Give as good as you get mate. :D
Course in the case of a few - we mean everyone - LIKE ME :d :d :d

Nah, all the English ex-pats voted to stop us leaving ;)

I didn't and will vote 'YES' again whenever that may be.
As you were voting to either be part of the Union or not they should have included the rest of said union in the voting to see if we wanted you to stay.
I think you might have got your wish then.
PS. I am not as mad as a box of Frogs - I jumped out
Thanks to everyone for the warm welcome and spirited responses. I'll keep an eye on the spelling and try to make sure I'm not late to any battles, police actions, skirmishes, wars, etc. ;) As for the accent, I'm actually originally from Virginia, so it's adorable in that Southern sort of way - you know, "Frankly mah dear..." and all that.
All kidding aside, I'm excited to be a part of such an active forum. As I'm sure you all know, many are ghost towns at best or downright troll lairs at worst.
I'm definitely excited to get into Warband in the short term, but the prospect of large scale historical battles is what ultimately drew me to 10mm.
I'm sure you'll hear more from me soon.
Thanks again for the welcome!
You'll fit right in, Jameson ! :-bd
Welcome, again.
Cheers - Phil
This rounds on Jameson. Orders at the bar please gents.
Ooo - did someone mention large scale historical battles? Welcome aboard, Jameson!

Surely a certain type of Irish whisky would be appropriate?
May I echo the sentiment of our elder statesman (I mean "elder statesman" in the same way that measles are a "social interaction") in saying that you will fit in nicely. (You may want to read through a few threads, then take a long hard think about what you have become.)
Dive into the historical. Post us some pics of your work. I'm still waiting for some new member to say "oh, I'm not very good at painting" and then actually not be very good. (i.e. better than I.)
Enjoy.

Cheek ! (Elder statesman ....mutter, mutter, grumble, grumble.)You're still, by far and away, the biggest and most complete oik on the forum, Nobby. :P ;)

Ah yes, the
Jameson would be quite appropriate .... but bringing out your
Black Bush (again), would not! X_X
By the way, a warm welcome from me too, JT. Unfortunately, history, not fantasy, is my thing (so I've yet to experience the allure of Warband :-[ ).
From Virginia, eh? (Where in Virginia?) Surprised you are not more into historical wargaming than Flames of War. Was first there on holiday (vacation) two years ago (based mainly in Fredericksburg and Williamsburg) and went back again this year (so must have enjoyed it - actually I did). When last in NY, never quite made it to Brooklyn (walked the length of the Brooklyn Bridge but turned back because my feet were aching!).
You should be (and probably are) proud of the historical heritage of your home State - so rich in history - Jamestown settlement (17th C.), Yorktown (18th C.) and the plethora of Civil War battlefields (19 C.). If you should ever venture more into historical wargaming, you should find that Pendraken will meet most (if not all) of your needs for re-fighting the battles from your home State's history.
I was romantically involved with a Southerner once. It was her vowels more than anything else that got me.
Hi Jameson, great forum, friendly members, awesome talent pool. Enjoy
Welcome Brooklyn.
Now you see why your ancestors went their own way.
F.K. Who from Eastenders did you date? ;)

Then the Pendraken is exactly the place for you, my dear fellow! And mid nineteenth century is the period. Pendraken ranges are awesome for 1866 and 1870, and nineteenth century battles don't come much bigger. Plus, this forum has more expertise on this period than you'll find anywhere else. Welcome! :D
