My wife has been offered a job i Kaikohe in Northland, so no urban metropolis for me. I wonder if there will be a gemer within 100km though :)
17 days until I depart the UK...

Yes, arse end of nowhere - but near the in-laws ... :-\
cheers

"the hub of the north"...my god.
HMMM ! seems you have a problem. :-\
I have thought this through and have coem up with a couple of solutions
1 As its New Zealand there will inevitably be plently of Sheep around. You could train them to wargame. This may get you a reputation though
2 Let your wife go on her own. This would give you plenty of free time to paint and game. You could then visit her at your convenience :-bd
3 Become a Solo player, but playing with yourself is so much less fun than someone else playing with you. @-)
4 Find a new wife. Expensive but could be fun. The real downside is you need to do all that training again. :d
Serously Good luck in your New Adventure and be thankful that Pendraken do international postage
Welcome to the NZ Wargaming scene, there are a few gamers in Northland so you may be in luck :-h
I suggest you join the NZWargaming_Discuss yahoo group. It will give you an overview of what is going on and the chance to ask about gamers near Kaikohe

There appears to be a club in Whangarei http://www.whangareiwargaming.org (http://www.whangareiwargaming.org), less than 90km away ;)
Not sure what they play :-\
PS I'm curious what sort of work your wife has found in Kaikohe

Are there any such things as rural metropolises?
Definitely wish you all the best, Ian.
Cheers - Phil
Good luck!
Time to enlist for nosher's online campaign :P
All the best for the move. I envy you - I've been trying to emigrate (go home?) for over a year, but as everything hangs on the sale of my flat, nothing has happened yet... :'(
You may find the odd gamer or two in Kerikeri as well as Whangarei. If you get really desperate, Auckland is only 3 hours drive or so :D
Good luck! You start a whole new scene from scratch if there's no one else already hooked on pushing lead ;)

Welcome to NZ Sandinista :)
You'll find northland a bit more tropical than
Wellington, but if you're ever down here do look
us up......sure of a warm welcome and getting something
to command.
hope the move goes well.
cheers
Peter

Cool
Best of luck with the move, and as Peter says if your ever down the other end of the North Island we can find you some Pendraken lead to push around :)
Thanks, I will be visiting Palmerston North quite often as an old school friend works there, so not to far away for a day trip :)
Cheers
Ian
Peter & I have a mutual Wargames friend who lives in Palmerston North so we might even be able to organise something up there :)
I had to look the acronym JAFA up, as i thought he was not going to allow himself to be the subject of a vasectomy. ;D
I first read it as something to do with Stargate. Boy, when I checked the acronym as well, how wrong was I.
