My wife has been offered a job i Kaikohe in Northland, so no urban metropolis for me. I wonder if there will be a gemer within 100km though  :)

17 days until I depart the UK...

HMMM ! seems you have a problem. :-\

I have thought this through and have coem up with a couple of solutions

1 As its New Zealand there will inevitably be plently of Sheep around.  You could train them to wargame.  This may get you a reputation though
2 Let your wife go on her own.  This would give you plenty of free time to paint and game.  You could then visit her at your convenience  :-bd
3 Become a Solo player, but playing with yourself is so much less fun than someone else playing with you.  @-)
4 Find a new wife. Expensive but could be fun.  The real downside is you need to do all that training again. :d

Serously Good luck in your New Adventure and be thankful that Pendraken do international postage

Welcome to the NZ Wargaming scene, there are a few gamers in Northland so you may be in luck :-h

I suggest you join the NZWargaming_Discuss yahoo group. It will give you an overview of what is going on and the chance to ask about gamers near Kaikohe

There appears to be a club in Whangarei http://www.whangareiwargaming.org, less than 90km away  ;)
Not sure what they play :-\

PS I'm curious what sort of work your wife has found in Kaikohe

Are there any such things as rural metropolises?

All the best for the move. I envy you - I've been trying to emigrate (go home?) for over a year, but as everything hangs on the sale of my flat, nothing has happened yet... :'(

You may find the odd gamer or two in Kerikeri as well as Whangarei. If you get really desperate, Auckland is only 3 hours drive or so :D

Good luck! You start a whole new scene from scratch if there's no one else already hooked on pushing lead ;)
