Where is everyone this morning?
Been up since 06:30 with the little in and nowt to read! :'(
Its been a bit quiet all week.
Who's missing that spouts lots of nonsense, useful stuff.
Well some of us that have now passed through the Get up at 0630 stage actually stayed in bed and had a lie in!
Do you remember Lemmy
Wake up at 0900. get other half to go and make tea
Bedroom activities, followed by a sleep (These can be solo but much better if 1 (or more if its FK) take part) :d
Wake up at 10:30, Get bacon sandwich and more tea
11:00 go back to sleep
12:30 wake up and think - Time I got up! Perhaps I shall paint figures this afternoon
Not for the last 11 years, no! :'(
We'll have to get some new releases sorted out and maybe some previews as well... :-\
I'm visiting me old mum in Cape Town, so a bit out of circulation.
Woke up at 6.00am and had a lie in until 6.30am (Normally wake up around 5.00am as it is so light at present).
7.30am off to ASDA for a bit of shopping, having loaded the washing machine. On return off to butrchers for some meat for evening BBQ (which was great :)).
10.00am helped out local conservation volunteers for a couple of hours pulling up Himalayan Balsam.
After lunch finished off history of Franco-Prussian War and started on Osprey's Essential History of the Russian Civil War.
A bit of gardening and then onto said BBQ.
Excellent day all round :)
Another two and a half hours of reports done today. I shall reward myself with painting of figures tonight!
Sadly today was a work day for me
Downloaded the TERA mmorpg so am currently rather sidetracked by that - when I really ought to be painting Armada ships!
I'm in Scotland at the moment....it's about 4.45am and quite light already. Body clock is still adjusting so I'm wide awake.
Off to see a bit of Angus today were my family farmed 100+ years ago. Met some distant relatives yesterday which went really well.
Meeting up with one of the board regulars in Edinburgh tomorrow....looking forward to that :)
After that its over the border, hopefully to have a cuppa with Leon and drop off a small order (with Mrs Shy's blessing since I took her to
Livingston designer outlet yesterday....after we finally found it ;))
Enjoy the trip Pierre.
WAS going to have a relatively lazy day, yesterday !
That went completely by the board. :'( :'(
Cheers - Phil

Just back from a short holiday at Lake Garda (Italy). San Martino battlefield (1859) so tantalisingly close (could see the memorial tower in the distance) but never got to go. Nevertheless, had a great time; temperature in 30s, nice scenery, picturesque towns, visits to Venice & Verona and got to see the fortifications at Peschiera and the gates to the Arsenale in Venice.
Great to be back .... :^o

Wonder who that is? ;)
Looking forward to it too.
Table booked!
QuoteBeen up since 06:30
You're not trying Will, I spent Friday night near the top of Crincle Crags.
This was a mistake, got to about 700m then stopped because that was the cloud base and the wind was knocking me over. The night was, to say the least, interesting in a howling gale sort of way ;D but at least it didn't rain.
By 6:30 I'd seen the dawn, packed up the bivi and had returned to the car.

Hello chaps!
Been on a trip to Stirling.
Went to visit Sherrifmuir. It isn't there.
There is a moor and a cairn. Nothing else. In fact even the Sherriffmuir Inn isn't there.
Beautiful weather. Warm and sunny, and raining at the same time to keep you cool.

I reckon it's pierre the shy and his good lady. They've probably packed them up to take back as souvenirs. That backpack looked suspiciously full :)
Met them tonight and had a great evening. Nice meal in "A Room In The West End" which was quiet enough that we could have a very leisurely time with plenty of scope for conversation.
Good to hear they are enjoying the trip :)
QuoteJealous! You still bedecked all in purple old fiend?
Unfortunately not, purple and indeed any colours apart from black, olive and biege are out of fashion on the hill and have been for some time. I blame the snow boarders who seem to have inherited the skateboarder's sence of fashion and colour, gear manufacturers now seem to produce stuff in the smallest range of boring colours imaginable.
The only bits of purple I've got left are my sleeping bag, climbing harness, rucksack and a scarf wifey found for me.
:'(
That's just not right! How would I ever recognize you?
Don't think I need to take Minas Tirith home with me Mark....NZ is after all middle earth isn't it :)
Hope you had a good trip to Scotland FSN....great place.

Got to Burton on Trent to see the folks at Spiritgames on Thursday.
Things going well here....couple of Jane Austen days then on to Bovington he he he 8)
When in Bovi make sure to find out the time they open the 'stores', where they have all the kit awaiting resoration etc. We missed it on our visit but hope to go again this year and see said 'stores'. BTW you pass right by the home of TE Lawrence as you are almost in Bovi; blink and you'll miss it.
My daughter got her degree ... and my stepson has been awarded an MBE.
What a week!

Well if the Tiger goes missing you know where to start looking.
Mind you it would put me a little overweight for the flight home ;)

You're right, Moll. So much 'good stuff' there for guys like us .... yet no organised tours or trips ... its all got to be DIY. You know, I've driven in France, Belgium, Spain, Portugal, USA & Oz but Italy still scares me! - but it might be the only way to do all of these 'important' venues. As you say, there's always next year .....
P.S. Hope you enjoyed Bovington, Pierre.

Not quite true regarding the no organised trips. Have a look at the Cultural Experience website. Off to FPW in July, Italy 1859/66 in October, Bohemia 1866 next June!
Mollinary.
That's really interesting, Moll. Thanks for the heads up. Must explore that site in more detail later. But what I was meaning is that there does not appear to be any organised tours specifically including battlefields if you turn up at a local resort (although, to be fair, they did have a brand new WW1 tour - but this seemed to be focused on war cemeteries ...). Am I right in thinking The Cultural Experience holidays are a complete holiday package and not a one day event (that Mrs W. would be able to put up with)?

They are complete holiday packages, but seem to attract a good number of women. Content and length varies from tour to tour. The website is well worth a browse, and having done the recces for the Italian tour you do get to go to some beautiful places!
