So just sitting here watching Crufts 2015 and thinking what a guilty pleasure it is.....
So having had a rant on the soapbox, anyone else fancy owning up to a guilty pleasure?
(I also love a bit of cheddar with a dollop of Daddies sauce on top but don't tell Mrs V)
Here we go:
Green tea,
Lime Doritos;
Watching any film I've ever seen ever, AGAIN!
80's music,
10mm zombies (have too many already and will buy more of the re-sculpts);
Infantry!

Funny - with me it's PZ III's. Any scale, any mark. Dunno why but there's just summat about them. I have quite a collection.
(And now this is turning in FSN anonymous "my name is Vamboozle and I like tanks")

Is that what's called Ye-Ye? :-\
(Ok ok - I googled French female poppy-jazz and that was the answer I got)
Dunno. I saw a singer called Zaz on the Andrew Marr program and was hooked.

Must confess that was a lot better than I was expecting - particularly as I'm usually allergic to jazz :D
On the subject of musically related guilty pleasures, found ourselves buying tickets for Kendal Calling today.
It never rains in the Lake District does it? @-)

Not really. The water just sort of hangs in the air.

It would never be Felicity Kendall. She is too famous and lovely to have use the telephone

Coffee's always acidic. Test with some litmus paper if you like.
Bugsy Malone. Fell in love with Jodie Foster four decades ago....

Aware of that; really dark chocolate tastes
incredibly acidic.
Do Julia Roberts and Kate Moss count as guilty pleasures? Or am I theirs?
New Orleans Jazz, especially if played at 78 rpm.
Is that because 33s finish in half the time😋

Jazz isn't a guilty pleasure. Never trust anyone who claims to love classical but doesn't like jazz. Or vice versa.
Sort of agree M. Kitty. Jazz is a very broad church, under which shelter Jamie Cullum, Winton Marsalis, Ella Fitzgerald and Chris Barber.
I like jazz and classical - but I don't like all jazz, nor do I like all classical.
My guilty pleasure is Caro Emerald
Lovely voice.

Has this thread just turned into Forum Soapbox mark 2? =O
Don't they all. . ;)
Matildas are my guilty pleasure, all scales.
It's a good book, the film was okay, the Tim MInchen musical is outstanding...
Oh, not THAT Matilda then?

All sounds the same; I refer the honourable gentleman to my previous answer. :D
#FK. Trad Jazz is music to slit your wrists to, Big Band style jazz is okay but a la Spike Jones is even better. Not a great lover of jazz full stop.
#fsn & ianrs54, agreed, sometimes laments on pipes sound like cats being strangled but this is the sort of occasion that pipes were invented for.

On a more modern theme this is decent pipe music.

My pleasures.
Cheese, all types. Spent the last 55+ years trying to find one I don't like and so far only come across one -haloumi- and that's because it makes my teeth squeak. (Involuntary shudder.)
Beethoven. 8th Symphony and 5th Piano Concerto in particular. I also like other classical music but mainly Beethoven.
A decent cup of tea with a large slice of fruit cake.
A sunny day, sitting in the garden with a wedge of brie or camambert, a glass (or two) of red wine and a good book. Heaven.
A good Indian meal.
Wargaming: Mongols all scales up to 25mm. (actually I don't really think that is a guilty pleasure, after all , everyone knows about it.)
Waking up every morning and thinking, yep, I'm still here. :)
You realise most music-lovers would recommend you be committed for psychiatric observation if they heard you select Beethoven's 8th symphony as your first choice? I'm not saying you're wrong, just noting the unusual selection.
Quite possibly, but then again my taste in music takes eclectic to another level. I enjoy English Folk, Mongolian throat whistling, classical of most types although opera stretches my interest a bit, heavy rock, Glamrock (my formative years style), electronic a la OMD, Human League and Kraftwerk and most other types except for C&W (hokput!), jazz and most types of Eastern European accordion music.
Symphonies 1, 2 and 4 are not that well known and he was still finding his symphonic feet by trying out different melodies as it were, 3, 5, 6 are good but are too well known, 9 exudes power and is strong in all four movements but for me it's a coin toss on 7 or 8. I like both but the 8th just clinches it. In saying that I do like the electronic version of the 9th used in the Clockwork Orange.
Agree on the 7th, but you can't beat the choral 9th.
I'm like earlier stuff - Vivaldi, Bach and Purcell - preferably with original tuning.
Having said that my iPod has just about everything on it (including C&W!) except punk and shouty metal.
I like Vaughan Williams, how much of a fogey does that make me...
Answers on a post card :D
Saor Patrol are fantastic, pipes and drums as it should be :) :) :)
Cheers

Only ever found one cheese I didn't like - Geitost. Norwegian brown cheese. Looks a bit like Caramac bars and tastes a bit like a cheesy version of Caramac which isn't a tenth as nice as it sounds.
When I tried it, Mrs V said I had a look on my face like I'd been betrayed by an old friend.
They cook the milk to caramelise it, and yep, it tastes like cheesy caramac :-&
Cubes of Gjeitost, grapes, celery and cubes of crusty white bread, a drinkable white wine and a summer afternoon out in the sun. Bliss.
Organ music isn't to everyone's taste (so trolls may as well save the trouble of repeating variations on "I don't understand it, so it's crap"), but it's the only real music that I can go on listening to for hours on end without getting worn out.

That's the only cheese I can't stomach; too damned sweet.
A large cappuccino down at the local coffee emporium, along with a good book and a cheese melt if I'm feeling really bad.
I like sherry (the old lady type) which is weird because I don't particularly like sweet foods.
Mine is a Gingerbread Latte with cream from Costa...............I'm addicted to them :-[ :-[
Chai Tea Latte: Indian spiced, sweet and milky tea. Lovely :)

It rather suggests that the rules taught by ignorant teachers as a substitute for thinking aren't actually rules.

I have many guilty pleasures, Most of which I cannot/will not admit to. :d
The only one I will admit is snuggled up in bed reading a book with the rain beating on the window.
Oh and eating Semolina out of the jug you havve made it in
Semolina, with rose water...nice :D
I'd have to go for home made rice pudding - hot with cream
And nutmeg
Specifically guilty pleasures? :-\
Watching Gordon Ramsey shout at Americans! :d
Watching appalling movies on The Horror Channel... :-[
There's a traditional Jewish semolina cake called shamali which you might like to try your hands at; not too hard to make, and exceedingly yummy.

Rather depends on the circumstances, I would think. My own guilt comes from the fact that I'm sitting around drinking coffee whilst my wife is slaving over a hot computer.

Dark of course, as first choice it's got to be Diplomatico Reserva Exclusiva :-* , but Kraken is a good back-up, or Red Leg if you are in the mood for a spiced rum.
Woods is pretty spiffy too :)
