Here is one of the first regiments of LoA cavalry that I have painted.
These are French Regt St Germain
Nicely done.
Look forward to more pics
Here is an old group shot the armies have increased insize since it was taken.
But you have a French regiment, a French dismounted Dragoon regiment, French Heugonout (Protestsant) infantry regiment and a Dutch cavalry regiment.
I will add more pictures as I paint fresh units.
As always comments welcome
I like the look of the cavalry.
Are you basing 40x40?
I have a huge pile of these figures, one day they will get painted. I'm tempted to go with 40x40 bases - but am slightly daunted by the number of pikemen I would need to paint to fill a base that size.
Very nice indeed!
Keep going as you have begun. :) Are there enough pikes on those elements, btw? Not one of my periods, So I don't know.
They look rather nice and look forward to seeing them progress 8).
Very nice, looking forward to seeing more of them,
kev
Look damn fine to me !
Cheers - Phil
Very, very nice, Bunny. Might I suggest a few flags to set the figures off?
Lovely stuff.

Nicely done, Bunny 8)
Thanks Guys,
Nice to get encouragement.
Answers to some questions.
I have based them for FOG R but hope to play Pike and Shotte as well.
The number of figures for the pike base is purly random, I thought they looked good without being crammed in.
I have done some flags now which will be fitted.
I have nearly finished two more foot regiments and once based they will be falgged and photgraphed.
There is one thing yet to do to my collection and that is give them a spray coat of Matt varnish, not only does dull and protect the finsih but also enhances the colours and shading, well I think so any way.
More to follow
New units, nearly completed.
First up the Dutch Gard de Voet for the Alliance forces.
They are painted, based and had Dark Shade painted on, all I have to do now is apply a coat of matt varnish spray. Unfortunately I am working overseas and I have non so I will wait until I get home.
Enjoy
Up next French, well sort of....
The French need bolstering so here are two foot units for King Louis....
The must have Garde Suisse and ever present in French armies of the period and Regt Greaber, this is the German one as aparently there is a Swiss one of the same name.
Again they are all done by the matt varnish spray.
Next up Ducth cavalry.
Very nice indeed, Bunny. :-bd
Yep....All they need now, is that matt spray.
Cheers - Phil
Cheers Phil,
Can't wait for more figures to out for this range I am loving them!!!
They are looking very good.
Very cool work! 8)
Now doesn't that look better than a dozen 28mm on the same basing?
They are the mutts nads. Very nice.
:-bd nicely done
They look excellent. Nice big units too.
I like units this big, but it is a lot of painting to get there.
:-bd =D> :-bd =D> :-bd
Nice to know I'm not the only one with varnishing issues ;D

Fred, you will be surprised how quickly they paint up but I do use a very 'basic' method. But they look good on mass.
One of the appeals of 10mm is the size of the units and overall look, love it!
Great stuff, very colourfull!
The Dutch troops by the way are called 'Garde te voet' which litterally translates to 'Guard on foot' as opposed of course to the 'Garde te paard' or the 'Guards on horse' but that was to be expected I guess...
Cheers,
Rob

Next up is the Dutch cavalry regiment Von Tengnal.
I am drawing my regimental inspiration from two sites, The League of Augsburg and Don't Throw 1s. Thanks for the push guys.
Sorry for the poor quality picture and of course they need to be matt varnished.
Better photos once I get them home!
Very nice, Bunny, and well worthy of a better picture, I'd say. :)
Nice
:-bd =D> :-bd =D> :-bd
Great work !
Cheers - Phil
And they keep coming, this round it's the French, have you noticed that I mix both sides up on the painting table....keeps it varied and both armies build up at the same level!
So French cavalry Regiment Prince Camille, I saw these on League of Augsburg web page and loved the colour differences of the musician and standard bearer.
No matter what, French cavalry always look glorious, and yours are no exception. Excellent. :-bd
Very cool indeed Bunny!
They are rather splendid ! 8)
Cheers - Phil
Looking good! =D>
Just a question; do you plan to give them a matt varnish or you plan to keep them shiny?
Cheers,
Rob
I must admit I think they look rather good shiny.
:-bd =D> :-bd =D> :-bd
I vote for a coat of matt varnish once you get them home
I'm a matt-varnish man myself too; I think the shiny look gives it a bit of a toy-soldier feel... :-\
(Unless they're supposed to be fighting in the pouring rain of course; in that case gloss varnish will do ;))
Cheers,
Rob
Yep, matt varnish for me too. Takes away the "porcelain" look.
Well I still vote to keep it. It brings out the colours and sets off the gold trim.
True, but there's nothing against touching up the 'metals' after the matt-varnish.
I always do at least that; bayonets and sabres especially; they have to glisten in the early morning sun!
Cheers,
Rob

Agreed, horses aren't matt finish, their flanks and necks are highly reflective, leave them as they are.
I am sorry to disagree Cameronian but the average horse picture on the Internet seems to show the opposite; only very well groomed horses or those that heavily sweat seem to 'shine' on their flanks and neck....
Rob
I hope to god when you order a charge your horses break int a sweat.
I hope to god they wait with that till it's done! :D
Yes they will be getting a coat of matt varnish when I can get it done, I do prefer the look (shinny does look too 'toy soldier' to me. Also by adding a matt coat it brings out the shading contrast of the dip, well it does to me anyway......
The latest unit and probably the last for a little while, I've almost run out of LoA lead....new order will be in soon!!
These are the Eppinger Dragoons, or in these pictures little black blobs! lol An Alliance unit, started off as Dutch I beleive but was brought into the English army....I am willing to be told more about them.
Enjoy
Nice work Bunny, these are my favorites from the range,
kev
Cool
Two views of the latest regiment to ride off of the painting table.....French Regiment Orlene...a pretty standard, painting wise, French cavalary regiment, light grey and red trim but I love them all the same!
Now all we need is for the Pendarken guys to add some more sculpts to this great range......please O:-)
Damn these are nice! :-bd
Great work! :)
Your wash is working really well on those figures.
Thanks guys, the Army Painter Drak Tone Dip (although I brush on not not) is making things work very well and the whole process quite painless.....enjoying these figures, now if only the Pendraken Gods would only complete the range ;)
Nicely done 8)
Nice work once again. I must try the army painter dip method soon, as it may speed up my output...

Depends on the type/breed......Our only thoroughbred hasn't been
properly groomed for quite a while......And he's
lovely and shiny......(to the eye)....Not sure how he'd look in a photo....It'd depend on the 'lighting'.
Depends on the time of year as well.
When they change, or are in the middle of changing their coats, they can look as scruffy/matt as
anything....When the new coat comes completely through, they can look naturally 'polished'.....For a while, at least. ;)
To someone who really only has an interest because it's the other half's hobby.....(Hobby...HAH !!!...No...Obsession ! ;D ;D ;D)......I'd say you can almost do what you want without being too worried about it.
Cheers - Phil
Liking these alot! :-bd

Totally agree, Phil (especially the obsession bit!) - our six will look wildly different from day to day (hour to hour) depending on a load of different things. And never, ever, underestimate their ability to go from well-groomed to unbelievably scruffy. In under a second.
The buggers.
Ok it's been a while, but I am easily distracted with other projects....... :-\
But here are the latest pictures of my latest unit, a cuirassier regiment of the Imperial Circle, the Franconian Regt Erbprinz von Bayreuth.
Thanks to the forum members for their help
Very tasty looking cavalry unit.
You are building up some lovely looking units, from one of my favourite periods. :-bd
Cool! 8)
Some nice looking figures. :)
:-bd =D> :-bd
8)
The Danes are here! Well Regiment Fynske and a medium field gun anyway!
The regiment is represented in their green coats although later in the war the changed to grey, I thought green would ad more colour to the battle field! The medium gun was added as I read the gunners wore purple coats and light green stockings, who could resist!
This regiment has 55 figures in, a lot I know but they are lovely to paint!
A second view of Regiment Fynske
Very impressive Bunny. Superb job! 8)
Lovely stuff.
Yep! Very good! Like. =D>

Agreed !

Great job Bunny,
kev
Lovely job on the Danes, and yes they will add a nice bit of colour to the battlefield, who indeed could resist!!
:-bd =D> :-bd
Very impressive
Take care
Andy
Thanks for the encouragement guys, much appreciated.
Can I appeal to the Pendraken Gods for the swift release of mounted Dragoons and Generals/Command, please :D
Excellent stuff. Dragoons, definitely needed.
Must not make snide remarks about the LoA range - FSN
Only trouble with dragoons in this period is that you have to do them dismounted too. :(
LOA 17(?) already provides the dismounted Dragoons for the French.
Mollinary
But what about every other nation? ;)

No problem for the dismounted dragoons, I already have 4 units of dismounted dragoon, 3 French, 1 Allied......for my collection they are only 20 figures strong, 5 per base.
Just need their horse riding brothers!
Another Danish Regiment, this time the Foot Guards, I love their golden yellow coats!
After doing a few allied foot regiments I needed to even up on the French....So here is Regiment Vermandois.
I think I have purchased all the figures I need, for now...except mounted dragoons but they will be coming soon, wont they??????
Lovely work once again 8).
More great work - do like the Danish Guard.
Are you painting units for a particular battle / war?
And is it about time for a group shot - flicking back through the thread you have painted loads of stuff in well under a year.
Terrific work, Bunny. I look forward to seeing them in action.
Fantastic work Bunny. You, Mad Lemmey and myself have all gone for the same basing. We should try and get them on the same table some time.
I'm in full agreement re Dragoons....need them....really need them, mounted dismounted in cap and hat :'(
Dragoons, yes please! :D
Great looking unit Bunny, really nice work
kev

Fred, no particular battle in mind just collecting French and Allied armies for the Nine Years War period.
I hope to end up with about 12 Infantry regiments and 9/10 cavalry regiments per side, I just over half way through! lol
Thanks for the 'likes' guys, helps spur me on.........another French foot regiment is nearing completion, I'll post once done.
Just seen these, really nice. Like those Danish foot guards a lot. That's another unit on the list.
Cheers Al.
French Regiment Le Riene
La Reine, Bunny, queens are normally feminine (the historical ones, at any rate).
Great figures, though, mate.

Cheers Al.
