Hi All,

As you may have noticed I've been distracted recently due to a mate pointing out the TooFatLardies, "If the Lord Spares Us". I am now seriously looking at building some forces for the Sinai campaign in 1916. When I was much younger, I knew a veteran from NZ Mounted Rifles in this campaign.

As I work out my order I have a number of questions that I hope some of you can help with.

I found the WW1 MIDDLE EAST thread from back in 2012 and it answers some questions but not all. I have also found Zippee's pictures which are very useful, particularly for the Turks. Any other pictures would be much appreciated.

For each of the following packs could some kind soul please tell me:
-   how many command figures
-   how many poses (what the poses are would be a bonus)

ME1 Imperial infantry
ME2 Australian infantry
ME3 Turkish infantry
ME4 Dismounted Australian cavalry
ME5 Australian cavalry
ME6 Imperial cavalry (do these wear pith helmets?)
ME7 Turkish cavalry
ME8 Imperial camelry
ME9 Imperial HMG (3)
ME11 Turkish HMG (3)
ME12 Dismounted Australian cavalry HMG (3)
ME15 German Colonial infantry
ME24 Turkish Arab legion infantry
ME25 Irregular Arab cavalry
ME26 Sharifian regular cavalry (use as Brit's in kafiya)
ME28 Turkish storm troopers

AN1 Infantry slouch hat shirt (how do these compare to ME2 and ME4)

How many crew come with each artillery piece (e.g. ME13), four?

How well would the following fit in with both the Turks and Imperials?

NEA1 Senior officer with binoculars (2)
WW1 Despatch rider with leather coat and flying goggles (5) (in Zippee's pics?)
WW2 Field telephone (5) (in Zippee's pics?)
BW19 Mounted officers (4)
BW25 Heliograph team (3 teams) (in Zippee's pics???)
BP22 High command (4)
GP19 High command (4)

Any other suggestions for some codes to add variety?

Many thanks

Hi Paul,

I've used the Imperial Cavalry and heliograph teams in my Boer War British army as well and you can find the pictures in the  2014 Painting competition section.
The heliograph team: 'Open - single base - entries only', page 2.
The Imperial cavalry: 'Open - Army - entries only', page 1. If you check the pictures of my British army there you'll see three mounted units at the rear; the Imperial cavalry is the unit in the middle with sabers drawn (half 'at the shoulder' other half something between 'shoulder' and 'charge' I guess... No command figure in the pack as such.) Mind you; I cut away the bandoleers around the horses necks that are visible at about half of the figures (one of the poses) for Boer War accuracy...

Hope this helps!
cheers,
Rob

Hi Paul,

At the moment I'm working on the design elements of a new blog that will be based on gaming 10mm WW1 in the Middle East with ITLSU rules. Pics of all the figs will end up on the site some day soonish. Meanwhile, there are some of my photos here:

Also, some of my early attempts at converting which I saw again for the first time in years only today:

Thanks Guys,

Michael, which packs are the last two pics of the Turks? Artillery and Stormtroopers :-/

Did those conversions make it into production, the camelry & kneeling Turkish officer would definitely be useful  :)

What about the Highlanders? Although I'm guessing that the 52nd Lowland Div didn't wear kilts in Sinai.

How many command figures in an infantry pack?

Paul,

Artillery, yes. The last is basic infantry – in fact, THE two Turkish infantrymen.

There are recent rumours that the Highlanders may be with us soon.

Kilts are only worn by Highland regiments.

Leon would be able to tell you command per pack numbers, I can't remember off hand. It's only the one casting.

:-/ if the last pic is the infantry then what is the first pic, running with bayonets fixed :-/

Thanks for the confirmation on the kilts Michael, that rules out 157th Brigade, will probably go with 155th Brigade

Still not sure if I will specifically label units or use a more generic approach, possibly three colour codes (Brigade, Battalion, Company)

Seen it, thanks.  I will probably just go with a painting diary and some battle reports. I dont have the time or talent to produce that level of blog
