There you go.

Bl**dy technology is great if a) you press the right buttons and b) if you double-check afterwards.

There you go, technology again. I only managed to get these two half decent shots out of the twenty odd I took, dodgy focus forced me to bin the others. I also think the miserable, overcast weather here played it's part. I'll try and get some better ones tomorrow.

They look great in the first photo 8).

Don't worry about is 'S'....
Yep...The 'Mk II' is a bit bleached out...

When I take the shots of 'masters'...I only get one half decent shot out of three....and in another life I was supposed to be a professional photographer...HAH !!  ;)

Leon always gets much better results after I've sent the greens up to him......My excuse is that I take absolutely no time at all to take the photo's.....Leon takes more care !!

Cheers - Phil.

Due to popular demand and the lack of supplied sunglasses I've removed the second picture as it was a bit pants.

Really nice. Are these a mix of the medium and heavy codes?

What colour have you used for the bows - I also seem to struggle with bows, either going too light or two dark, I like the shade you have used.

One small suggestion, maybe try to get some of the base texture on the metal bases of the figures, to help them blend in better with the rest of the base - I do like the grey colour and stones, I will be trying to do something similar on mine.

Yes, I wanted a bit of mix for the unit but didn't want too much of an armoured look. Regular but slightly mis-matched  if you like.

QuoteWhat colour have you used for the bows - I also seem to struggle with bows, either going too light or two dark, I like the shade you have used.

The bows are painted with Vallejo colours with Orange Brown (981) as a base, then a coat of my Pledge dark brown stain mix followed by highlights in a mix of Orange Brown and Sunny Skin Tone (845).

If we were talking about 15 or 25mm I would completely agree and I did try to do it on some others but it looked like they were wading through  some type of boulder-ridden, crumbly, rocky ground. The base sand I use is actually from the Sahara Desert (holiday in Tunisia) and it's the finest in texture I've come across, mixed in with some budgie sand (for want of a better phrase) but even that is out of scale. Another idea I tried was to use Milliput to blend the edges  but the figures are far too close together on the base...plus the fact it took a bl**dy age. On the lighter units, where the figures are further apart, this is not an issue.

Grey? It's actually a light-earth colour. If you are interested I got it from Homebase in a litre tin, Code: 5010Y30R. Dry-brushed with a golden yellow and tan acrylics from The Works.

What base sizes are they?

Looks like 60mm to me but I'm no good at estimating size

And what rules are you using?

I'll bet you say that to all the girls  ;) ;)

Everything I paint now goes on 60x40mm bases, with 3 bases to a unit. As I normally collect armies from both sides everything matches so base requirements in rules aren't really a problem.

QuoteAnd what rules are you using?

I don't have any specific set in mind although I have a copy of Impetus that I might try. Over the years, on and off, one of my many ongoing projects has been to write a set of rules covering the Mongol Conquests because I dislike rules that cover an expanse of time rather than a specific conflict or a series of interconnected conflicts.
