Just to add to this. Gilbert originally wrote 'Chassepot rifle'. Some time after 1907, he changed this to 'Mauser rifle' because the Mauser was better known by then. 'Mauser rifle' is still sung today.

Ummm...I didn't think I had had a guess yet, though I can see that I have a guess listed  as 18th January...I would like to point out that this wasn't me but an extreme  chain of events  performed by  my cat who managed to turn the computer on , log into the Pendraken forum then entered the date as seen , all without my knowledge 

Can I have a proper go please?
