I've decided my Christmas Project will be the 3rd Afghan War ....so on my Christmas list:

Plenty of Colonial  NWF Afghans - but I'm not sure what to use for the Afghan Army - indeed I haven't been able to track down an illustration....any one

For the Brits & Indians the WW1 Middle East range
Is there any difference between

ME23 Indian foot in turban
&
BP17 Indian infantry

I'm going to use the twin turreted  ME19 Austin Armoured Car  - not sure if its correct - but its a bit more exotic than the RR.
I can also use a FT17 - see http://waziristanonafancy.blogspot.co.uk/2013/09/the-british-renault-ft17.html

Grateful for any help on the above

Kelvin

Hi there,

I've had a similar problem.

May I suggest you use Turkish figures for your Afghan regulars, but don't make them too 'regular' if you see what I mean?

There's a quite good section on the 3rd Afghan War on Wiki, but it still doesn't give you any pictures of Afghan Regulars.

On the good side, as there's no pictures of Afghan regs easily available you could use almost anything that you think looks right and no one can say you're wrong! I use Boar War British inf and crews for my Afghan regs and WWI British and German Artillery.

Someone did this for principles of war many years ago. I remember the afgan bases were almost empty of figures but full of scenery. Have to see if there are any photos anywhere?

Hi

Here's a link to a piccie of the M23 http://www.flickr.com/photos/zippee/5534889652/in/photostream/ (I can't bloody well insert a FTP link...maybe someone can explain ....bloody technology mutter mutter!)

I'll have a look for a photo of the BP17. In my opinion they would be good as a Punjab regiment. There is a difference between the two ranges, as I think the Middle East are an earlier production. Maybe, also consider the Indian Infantry in the colonial range for a Sikh regiment. For Indian cavalry, the lancers in the WW1 range would be the bee's knees and oh don't forget the Indian Lewis gunners, in the BP range as well
