If I were creating Pendraken I wouldn't mess about with Romans and  Mongols  I would have started with Centurions , eight o'clock, Day One!

I've had the honour to go to Arnheim many times they truly respect the Para's for their sacrifice if you ever get there around now in September  the war graves cemetery is full of the local school children cleaning the place up and laying flowers on the graves.

Yes,  remembrance goes deep in Holland.   I was there in 1984 with a party of vets and they wept openly when they saw how Dutch school children had individually adopted the war grave of an Allied soldier and tended it with flowers.

My other abiding memory was the anger still there amongst the Airborne vets that XXX Corps should have 'gone like hell' as they were ordered, and that the RAF had situated the DZ/LZs too far from the bridge.  The debate still "rages" on www.militaryhistoryonline.com

And full marks to you Rob for planning a trip with your lads.

When you realise we're all mad, life makes a lot more sense.

Very good and nice to know they are remembered in such different ways.
