Superb...Thanks for sharing Nik...Inspires me to get my Great Uncles photo's of the Middle East done
If I were creating Pendraken I wouldn't mess about with Romans and  Mongols  I would have started with Centurions , eight o'clock, Day One!

Fascinating stuff, thanks for posting the link.

I did find myself at one point wondering how many of these smiling young men were still around by 1918 - sobering and melancholy thought!

Really cool pics, I'll show this one to Dave tomorrow.

Extremely interesting, Nik. What stands out is how badly made the average uniform was - even for officers.
When you realise we're all mad, life makes a lot more sense.

If you ever needed a reason to move from Faceache to Google+ this is it...there are more gamers / geeks / artists / writers there - and you get posts of this quality (as opposed to status updates of what morons had for their dinner...)

Quality to dross-and-white-noise ratio is massively better

:)

You must be on a different Google+ from the one I tried Nik

Nothing weird at all - use the search facility to find things you're interested in - look at people posting on those topics and then add them into your circles (which you can construct as you like - so I have an RPG circle, a wargaming circle, art, steampunk, photography etc etc - and people can be in more than one circle) - then their posts will show up in your stream...

It's beautiful and simple and integrates with all your other Google channels...and has far more interesting content. Try it - you might like it...if nothing else, you can follow me - and you'll see the things that I share  :)

"all your other Google channels" - that'll be part of the problem then :) Google is a search engine - end of.

Plus I only know of two people on Google+ and you're 50% of them Nik!

I tried Google+ early on, had high hopes as I don't much like Facebook but it I just didn't like it at all. I guess it depends to a large extent on where the people you know are and what you're looking for from social networking.

Really? Not heard of Gmail, Youtube, Blogger, Picasa, Maps, Play Store, Drive, Translate, Wallet etc etc etc?  :o

That's not the point...it's more about connecting with people that you don't know - in order to increase knowledge and exposure to new things...rather than your 'friends'. I've connected with some truly amazing and inspiring people from all over the world, shared ideas, hangout with them (in Hangouts), learnt loads, seen amazing things and contributed to projects, writing, playtesting and other things...all while the majority of people I know were 'liking' things, playing advertising games, or posting pictures of cats.

Indeed...as above  :) Each to his own - but I'm pretty sure if you went to it again, and rethinking how you approach it (it's not FB), and try some of my suggestions, you'll enjoy it - as a really different experience.  8)

Use GMail because Virgin chose it as their mail service.

To be fair I use Youtube, though usually just to play the links others have sent me.

Think I've used Maps twice in the past three years and Translate maybe half a dozen times in the same time.

Blogger, Picasa, Play Store, Drive, Wallet - don't even know what they are - though I could guess at the first and last.

Connecting with people ... that's why I come to forums like this :)

Fairynuff...each to their own  :) I leave you with this though:

;) :D
