My good buddy Nick B is over today for a 'Pike and Shotte' slugfest between the Catholic Imperialists and the Swedes.

Test Match Special will be on as background activity, the sun is out (even if its unlikely at Old Trafford) and there are a couple of cold ones in the fridge. Hot Dogs are ready to be cooked later on and the smell of sweated down onions is now filling the kitchen...

Man I love wargaming!

:) :) :)
I don't think my wife likes me very much, when I had a heart attack she wrote for an ambulance.

Well I hope to get a game of BKCII in today in a 'what if?' scenario in 1939, details to follow over the next day or so. The predicted Biblical rain is noticably absent here in Bristol, but I imagine the English (are there any left in the team? :D ;)) have hired the services of Native American rain men just to be sure at Old Trafford...

Anyway look forward to pics etc of the game Nosher.

My Aussie wife says that after 20 years the Australian cricket team is just giving England a chance as they felt sorry for them
If I were creating Pendraken I wouldn't mess about with Romans and  Mongols  I would have started with Centurions , eight o'clock, Day One!

Are they any good? have heard differing views

Yep they are from Warlord but some love, some hate them...

Hi

They have a bizarre way of portraying pike and shot units as 3 separate units of two musket and one pike  :-\.

So there are loads of little units buggering about the table  :o.

Put me off totally.

They would be fine for the Italian wars and the like but a big no no for Tyw and Ecw.

Massive opportunity missed, shame liked HC and BP.

Well the Test Match was a damp squib (in more ways than one) and it didn't stay sunny here for long, but the game was great. A narrow victory for the Catholic Imperialists (me!  :) ) with the Cuirassiers walloping lots of Finnish Cavalry, whilst my foot took a right hammering in the centre.

Sorry chaps, but no piccies, nor a write up on this ocassion - far too busy with the game and catching up with Nick B.

Pike and Shotte yes they are the Warlord Rules.

Fun, fast and simple, but Steve J is correct, they are a bit like Marmite. I like Marmite.  :) I like Pike and Shotte.  :)

As Jim says the Shot and Pike work as seperate units, but that is actually how they fought in reality with the Pike as the main body supported by sub-units of shot. Most rule sets 'insist' they are in base to base contact. Pike and Shot doesn't.

I like Marmite.  :) I like Pike and Shotte.  :)
