Thanks for the post Alan, hugely appreciated.  I'm not sure if I'll be able to squeeze the military musuem into a honeymoon trip, but you never know!  It looks like the Friday will be our trip out to Chamonix, as the car rental place is only open for a couple of hours on Sat and Sun.  We can do CERN on Saturday, and then wandering / sightseeing on Sunday.

I've emailed the tourist info people and they said there's a ticket you can get in the airport which gives you 80 minutes worth of travel from the moment you get it, which should be enough to get us into the city.  Do you know if this only applies to a single method of transport, or can we use it on trains / bus / etc?

I'd seen the Yvoire trips online as well, so that sounds nice.  The city travel card applies to some of the boat trips, so I'll have to check and see if it covers that destination.

Thanks as well to Tiny Terrain for answering my questions on Sunday at Colours!

Leon,
you need to be flexible on honeymoon. I managed to squeeze in our nil-nil draw with MK Dons (never going to be a real football team as long as I have a hole in my arse), the day after I got married...

Anyway, when I was there, the tickets did for boats, trams and buses. So it would be worth checking out. Also, if you are going to Chamonix, you will be going on the E25:

1) There is big junction, roundabout, flyover thing near Annemasse in France. Make sure you are in the right lane as it becomes a right royal pain in the arse if you don't. I used to miss the turn to the hypermarket every time.

2) Make sure you have some euros in change for the toll booth.

3) You should get up the saleve maybe on the way or the way back. You go up in a cable car and you get a great view of Geneva from the top.

Leon

Thanks for the info Alan, especially on the junction of the E25.  I'm going to pay the extra for the SatNav, just to get us in and out of the city, so hopefully that will know where we need to be...  :-\

I'll have a look at the Saleve, we arrive quite early on the Thursday, and we've got a bit of spare time on the Sunday as well.

No problems with the help at all Comrade Leon. In true Stasi fashion, now we have done something for you... its time comrade you did something for us. A small thing. Within the files marked "pendrakenforum.co.uk", you will see a sub file involving requests. There is a small list, very small, not even of interest so its without any risk, of LOA requirements.

What we would need is an EXACT timetable for release of these combat units into mainstream operation within the European theatre (and specifically the Rotherham military district). There have been incidents with satellite tracking and navigational systems throughout our area of interest within the swiss confederation. It would be a new development for us all if you happened to receive such a vehicle. I believe we are as is noted in the UK "as clear as crystals"?

Will you be at the Fiasco show in Leeds next month?

Of course. I will have the stasi book of codewords with me.

"Can you tell me which train is bound for Dresden"? "no, but are you interested in a picture of a unicorn"?

Leon

Excellent, if you've got 5 minutes during the show, it'd be great to pick your brain on some Geneva stuff...  :)
