Anyone know who makes walls that would work well for a modern/near future city scape? I can only find drystone walls and that doesnt quite fit with sci fi cities!

Have a look at Angel Barracks - while nominally 6mm, I think some of their stuff will work with 10mm.

If you're looking to scratchbuild items yourself, have a scout round the model railway sites. They do all sorts of brick, stone etc cards that can be used for buildings. If you're just after textured surfaces, use plain sandwich board and spray it with Rust-Oleum textured paint, available from Homebase - if somewhat pricey. Overpainted and then drybrushed it comes up quite attractively.

Two other options

1 Mix decorating filler up into a yogurt type consistency and brush onto suitable wall material- Balsa, card etc. Add some fine sand if you want it rougher. Paint  and dry brush to show texture

2 If you have used Textured paint  like polytex then just paint on with this - you will need to experiment i to see if you need more texture.  Its alway worth asking around to see if anyone has any left in thier garage.  One of the guys at club uses this to base his figures as well

Christain,

Few options:

For concrete, cut corktile (use scissors for straight lengths its quicker), rough up the shiny side (in particular) and the dull side with coarse sand paper. Paint with Vallejo Grey Black and then then drybrush with London Grey and London Grey mixed with Buff (50/50). To make it lok a little more distresed add bent wires (paperclips) coming out of the larger pieecs of corktile and paint as rusted steel supports. Add water damage and drip marks by streaking with Brown Wash around windows and natural run offs.

For Heavy industrial / blast barrier type walls, corktiles again with strips of plasticard added to make supports and chevrons. Paint with Vallejo Grey Black and then drybrush with Vallejo Oily Steel and then dull down with a Black Wash. Hand paint hazard warning chevrons and other details such as control panels / rust etc.

High Tech internal walls and corridors use semi transparent plastic milk bottles cut to size and glued in place.

Any idea what he is trying to build? Send him my email address if you like, I might be able to suggest a few pointers to him.

Just the sort of walling you might see in a city, lengths of wall varying from waist high to above head height to break up the terrain features and give some cover. Hes got the City Scape pack that they have released- its really good value, comes with enough reversible card tiles to make a 6x4 city scape board with roads and paved areas etc and 20 cardboard buildings that are ready made, you just need to squish them into shape. Hes made some wooded areas for parks etc, but whats missing is walls to break up the lower level terrain.

Deifinitely cork tiles are the way to go. Cheap, easy to cut and can be painted in all sorts of colours to suit.
