Hi as a first time newbie want  to say hello to everybody, i'm just venturing into 10mm and am interested in looking into the Indochine/ Vietnam era. Looking at the Indochine range was wondering if anybody else would be interested in backing a request for a 10mm scale Sikorsky H19, the 1/144 options out there are horrifically expensive. Any chance of a model at some date?

Pics as soon as get some painted up  ;D

Cheers all

Hi

The french only had around 50 choppers in Indochina at most.

they were used  mainly for casevac and rescue of downed pilots and maybe the supply of the pro french guerillla groups (GMCA).

No ride of the valykires (probably spelled that wrong) I`m afraid.

French Indochina is an absolute favorite period of mine and the pendraken stuff is great.

Hi Dannyboy, welcome to the Forum!

There's no plans for any heli's at the moment, as the design costs very rarely justify the potential sales.  I see that Revell do one in 1:144th, so I'll see if we can source some kits.

Cheers guys, I wasn't aware of a revell kit, fantastic if it's out there in 1/144, problem solved. At the moment the only kit i'm aware of is the miniwings version which is pricey but available through Hannants.

I'm not aiming to use as gunships but they may add a little spice for the french in casualty evac scenarios  :D, may go for the sinner route and opt for some Allouette 3's, "out of period I hear you shout", yes slightly, but will be able to also use then for later Algerian scenarios and they do look ......well French!  Available from Shapeways at £10 a go so just abput doable on the budget.

Having checked out the images on the web for the Indochine range can I just say outstanding figs and easily the equal of larger scale ranges out there, stunning sculpts and really looking forward to getting some on the painting bench after Salute. Pics as the project develops.

Oops, I've just double checked with my supplier, and it's actually the CH-53, and not the H19 I'm afraid.  I'll keep looking though.

Welcome and damn you. I have enough periods running around in my head, emptying my pocket, and you bring up Dien Bien Phu!

Hmmm ... I'm already planning to move into the 1950 Korean War, wonder how much of a cross over there would be ...

Hi

The allouettes are perfect for algeria as they did use them as gunships.

I paid 15 quid for a  bearcat from hannats the kits are from eastern europe and really over priced for what you get.

Jim

Dannyboy

Thanks for the heads up on the miniwing kits, yes 16 quid is a bit steep for a 1/144 kit, especially as a gaming piece, so unless alternatives are out there will probably go the Allouette route, just paint them up in early French bare metal finish and they will look the part which is the imporatant thing. I would imagine most of the Korean war kit with some judicous painting will easily transfer over so you get periods for the price of one, got to be a winner!  ;), plus loads of amazing looking jungle terrain.......which you can then use for Vietnam part 2!........... ;D
