Alternative 19th Cen

Hi Folks
I haven't got round to registering till recently but have been at this gaming lark for a bit of time and have recently become interested in developing an alternative 19th Cen setting which was stimulated following reading a history of the Paris commune .
I was wondering about any ideas for rules as I primarily play solo and have frequently written my own ,I am looking at it being at small squad level groups

You know that you cant go far wrong with Warmaster, its been modded for just about every period imaginable.

Our resident Warhamster guru Nik should be able to point you in the right direction for the mods you need.

I will have a look at Warmaster and have also been looking at an antiquated set of rules I found on Free Wargame Rules which I may be able to modify which allow my squads of late 19th Cen valiant revolutionaries fire as both individuals and as a group against the posh upholders of the status quo.
The setting is just post 1870 following the Paris Commune which in my world is still ongoing

An alternate 19th century sounds quite intriguing. I have Alistair Horne's book on the Commune and it's an excellent source for ideas.

Yep, those Canadian militia and Zulu War British are just begging to be put up against Franco-Austro-Prussians, or even Yanks a la Harry Turtledove. However I think a dastardly continental (lets not be too specific here) invasion of 1880s Kent might be interesting - Operation Walrus perhaps?

It is reassuring to find a community of people with a reading area as diverse as my own
Hornes book is a good read and engrossing as any decent novel ,as well as pertinent . I have just taken delivery of some communards by Pendraken and they are fabulous castings as per usual as the beginning of several civilian militia groups .
I am beginning to get excited
