6pdr for Longstreet

The starting forces for Longstreet include 2x 6pdr smoothbore cannon.

Can anyone recommend a good proxy for an ACW 6pdr?

Better still, ask Leon to do the guns with Confederate crews. He's good like that

We can supply the ACW carriage and crews, no bother at all, we just need to find the best barrel to suit.  Looking at some pics online, some of the other ACW barrels look similar, so could probably do?  It would be a tricky call to say they weren't the right ones, once they're painted up on the table.  There's also the Sch-Holstein 6lb'er barrel, but I'd have to check whether that one looks right.

Ok, unless there is a more suitable barrel out there, I'll just paint the 12 Napoleon a dark metallic colour.

ACW as far as I'm aware, Bronze guns were left unpainted, Iron guns were painted black.

I've done my 10pdr Parrotts in black but they seem a bit lifeless.  I thought I'd do the 6pdr smoothbores in either black/ v dark grey with a light gun metal dry brush.

I've looked in my Osprey (American Civil War Artillery 1861-1865 - Field & Heavy Artillery) and both the Parrott and 6pdr are shown as (forgive rubbish phrasing) dark steely coloured, almost shiny - although the text does, as you say, say black.

I will just assume that the guns have been well used and are showing a bit of wear and tear!
