Makes you think about Armour Plate... 'Cast' armour and late WW2 poor quality German armour 'Shattering' under impacts.  :o

Think Bath was 'Galvanised Steel' rater than cast Iron.... but not metallurgist!
Cast Iron is poured and allowed to cool, generally hard and brittle (but see *).

Wrought Iron is heated and worked with tools: swords, horseshoes, garden gates. It is generally flexible and impact resistant (but see *).

* Things like alloying, carbon content, plating and rate of cooling can introduce far more variation to flexibility and brittleness than the cast / wrought difference.

Galvanisation is one form of plating.
A thin layer of zinc is applied which protects the base metal against corrosive substances.
This is usually done through a "hot dip" into a bath of molten zinc.

Obligatory Wargame angle:
The first examples of gamvanisation are found in 17th century Indian armour.
(You try keeping a plate/mail hybrid in good nick during a monsoon).

Other surface protections are available.

I love cats. Some think them creepily 'inscrutable. But, in fact, they have a wide variety of expression. The Glare, the 'Innocence', the Feed me, the comfortable, the 'I know YOU can't be bothered right now but I'm going to (?) anyway. Etc., etc.
I have just emptied litter tray. Cat jumped straight in for No.1 and No.2...then happily spread litter all over kitchen. You have to Love them...sometimes!  :'(  ;)
