Oh God. 7-8 weeks of COLD baths.. usually after several days!
Eventually despaired of sourcing kits to  renew old bath taps, so bought new bath, etc. and contacted phone book plumbing service to replace bath.
Supposed to happen Monday 8-12, but no show... just next in queue... until too late.
I CAN understand this... some others may have IMMEDIATE problems with leaks or no supply... so might get reshuffled... and jobs take longer than thought.
Got a guy reshuffled to take a look Tuesday pm. Estimates up to 7 hrs (£150 hr) for what I thought would be a 2-3 hr job... suggested a quote instead... for Thursday.
But... can do plumbing... but will have to get a Tiler, (Recommended bloke!)... to finish... at extra. Whenever!
All I wanted was 2 little brass bits to take BATH size washers... but cannot get now.
Old and Tired! (And frequently, Smelly'!).  :(

Well, it will be character building.  :)

Nothing wrong with a flannel wash. To add to the childhood, I suggest filling the sink from the kettle, and using Pears soap ... oh, and a rough towel.

I've been without hot water and heating since the 20th May. I'm beginning to forget what a warm shower is like! All being well I'll get a new one fitted by Friday of next week.

Hang in there HH and be glad it's July not January!

Plumber's Tiler cannot do. Hopefully, I have found someone to strip tiles before bath replacement... afterwards... ? And timescale?
COLD baths at 60 ARE NOT INVIGURATING!  :o
A Swedish Sauna Might be Nice...??? tho  maybe not, at 60! LOL! :(

FSN... Pears Soap... you Wuss... I had Lifeboy!  ;)
And Kettle does not work, either!  :(  :)

Cream puffs, the lot of you. I'm 63 this year, and have three cold showers every day, so there!

Wahey! Bath replaced so 1st WARM bath in 2 months!  :)  :)  :)
At least £1300 poorer... and some re-tiling to be done, And, All I wanted were two little 'bits' of Brass... washer 'cups' to turn  a basin tap into a bath tap... not available anymore!

New bath ok, but nowhere as comfy as old steel and enamel one... but enamel almost worn through after 55 years. My Word! The WEIGHT of the old thing! Two young, fit, Greek plumbers could hardly shift it outside! No wonder advice for a 'last ditch' emergency in a cyclone or home shootout is to get into the bath!  :o  ;)

What amazed me was... Really Heavy Steel bathtub needed disposal. Asked cousin if he might be able to cut it up with grinder.
He SMASHED it up with a heavy Sledge! I had NO idea that Steel could be so brittle!
Makes you think about Armour Plate... 'Cast' armour and late WW2 poor quality German armour 'Shattering' under impacts.  :o

Think Bath was 'Galvanised Steel' rater than cast Iron.... but not metallurgist!

Here's a video of me throwing dice for my Guards brigade, in line, supported, facing shaken militia in the open.

I'm not telling you what rule set.

In other news ... was thinking of sailors to go with the British (Spanish) Marines ... and found this.

Which is now stuck in my head.
