And now......to change the subject completely.

I've been wondering for the past few weeks/months why I've been struggling to beat 'the computer' on a particularly basic game of logic.....Set at the beginner's level. (Othello)....which I AM far more than competent at.

Finally spotted what the barsteward was doing....it plays SO fast, you can't see what it's up to.

It was having two....or three goes, to every one of mine...once I had it in trouble.

Cheating blanker.....That app's getting permanently deleted.

Don't fret on it.
For 40 years, my stock answer to the usual "How are you?"... "How's it going?" has been
"Oh, Surviving."
Suitably ambiguous to allow maneuver unless either party opts to engage more closely.

You sometimes get a 'look' from those expecting the "Fine!", "Great!" response... but it ain't an outright Lie.

That's a very interesting method of balancing the 'AI' vs the human player. It is a method often used in more complex games - but seems a bit blatant to use in a game like Othello!

I play the PC at chess..from time time...at a very low level....That prog doesn't cheat...Though it plays too fast...so it's a case of...

'Tradition' is a odd thing. I have just made the effort and put up the Xmas Tree again.  Not doing it was getting me down. It just HAD to be done! 
Same tatty old tree and mostly same decorations... since My First Christmas... I have it all on video tape from old cine film!
'Could' replace with a Fibreoptic... BUT WILL NOT! lol! It is MY Tree.

No real point in it. No Family or other visitors, (Ma 'might' be able to see it from her chair, but not up close.), no Xmas presents to go in the old Tattie 'Sack'... no Santa. 

Just 'Tradition'.
