Car brake fluid works as well.

I now have in my mind a desperate gamer who really, really, REALLY needs to repaint some figures, dropping them into assorted fluids ... Dettol, nail varnish remover, olive oil, ... car brake fluid?

I'm watching Chris Cappy's description of Poland's Grot rifle.

Very interesting. The video is sponsored by Goat Guns, 1/3 scale models of various weapons. I wondered how much they cost so I went to Amazon. Here I saw this Western Rifle Gun and I'm a bit confused.

Where's the trigger?

One night in the Dettol bath. A little bit of clean up required, but quite an effective start.  :)

Bonus: a nice clean aroma around the place.

Dettol DOES work. :)
On repainting. Early 70s, aged 10, I got my first 1/300 micro tanks. Bought at 'Tradition', no less... on trip to London. The early ones... frequently 'squashed' and wire guns. Over years, they received several 'repaints' with Humbrol enamels... but overpaints... ended up 'blobs'!  ;D
I moved on  to GHQ. They will still be there, SOMEWHERE! If I ever excavate them from one of the piles... think I will let them be. Crappy models, anyway... but memories of happy years, long ago. :)

As lol footnote... school 'friend' used to come round for a game occasionally... one time he brought some other kid round and we had couple of games. At end they got chucked into box... so I thought! Few days later friend said he had some tanks... wouuld I like to buy them from him? Came round... AND MY DA*N TANKS! He CAN'T have been stupid enough to try to sell ME, my stuff that HE had pinched... must have been his mate!  >:(

Yes, Dettol does work. Those two I painted years ago in acrylics; clean as a slightly dirty whistle after one night.

I'm not keen to rebase or repaint - so much new stuff to do, but browsing through some of my early Pendraken stuff, I am genuinely embarrassed.

With the Ottoman Napoleonics purchasing still going on, I have been digging through the bowels of my lead mountain and tidying up my nearly-finished projects.

Since February I have painted*:
  • Fantasy: 2 woolly rhino ('cos did) :-/
  • Dark Age: 128 Arab spears and archers
  • Bannockburn: 252 English and 218 Scots
  • Napoleonic: 147 Poles, 42 Dark Riders and 30 civvies
  • Western: 149 townspeople, Mexicans and Apaches plus 4 wagons
  • 1920s Imagination: 60 North African warriors
  • WWII: 6 Soviet a/c & 11 French tanks (8 Dettol stripped and re-painted)
  • Korean War: 108 Chinese infantry
  • Arab-Israeli War: 10 Egyptian BMP1s
  • Cold War: 100 British infantry and 2 US Dragon AT teams
  • SF: 5 tankie things (2 Dettol stripped and re-painted)

On my painting table are some More Dark Age Arabs and the last 2 schiltron of Scottish pikemen. Finishing these will mean that all these projects will be completed**. Huzzah! It's a good feeling.

What now?   :-\  Well, I have 2 carriers worth of tiny US and Japanese aircraft. Haven't put brush to the Samurai I bought and I've got some ancients to paint as well and ... the first 15mm army I bought was Peter Laing Marlborough range, remember them?

This was my first experience of metal figures and I've since had a low level, but constant affection for the period. I started buying Pendraken WSS range in May 2014, and after having bought the lot, was so disappointed with my painting results, I entombed my disgust in the very depths of the lead mountain. Now, after 3 years of Napoleonics, I think it is time to resurrect my interest in the War of the Spanish Succession. In 2014, I created two imagi-nations more so I could play with the colours than anything else and I may well stick with the concept. There's about 1700 figures to keep me going.

However, I want to make it clear that my current project is still Ottoman Napoleonics.

* I have highlighted my non-Pendraken shame in blue
**Completed as in the wargamers' definition: "work has been temporarily suspended as sufficient forces have been amassed to fulfil the current project specification, but additions may be made at a later stage."

If I have got this right, then these are my Pendraken WSS.

Sunjester puts 4 on a 20mm base. Mine are 3x2 on 20mm base. You have to trim the figure base to do this, and it is 50% more expensive but I prefer this packed base.
I have neither the time nor the crayons to explain why you are wrong.
