True. I don't have your genius for Phil-baiting.

Think He manages his bait... though Von only allows him a spoon...

SORRY!    ;)

Well 2021 as a Napoleonics year is going well.

I'm starting the British element of Wellington's 1815 army.

Hill's Corps
2nd Div Clinton

  • Adam        1/52 71 2/95 3/95
  • du Plat       1KGL 2KGL 3KGL 4KGL
  • Artillery      Bolton    Symper
4 Div Colville

  • Mitchell       3/14  1/23 51
  • Artillery       Brome

Reserve
5 Div Picton

  • Kempt          1/28   1/32  79  1/95
  • Pack             3/1 42  2/44 1/92
  • Artillery        Roger

Cavalry

  • Ponsonby       1D   6D
  • Vandaleur       11LD  12LD  16LD
  • Artillery           Mercer   Whinyates  Gardiner

At a scale of 1:10, that's 1140 infantry, 200 cavalry, 105 artillery and about 40 command figures. At about 1' per battalion in line that's 19' in infantry. How is this going to fit on my 8' table? All I can say is "defence in depth". After that I have the Brunswick Corps (469 infantry, 92 infantry, 30 artillery). Can we all say "overdoing it"?

Anyway, I'm nearly done with Picton's Division, and just finished the second regiment of light cavalry ... and I'm having a whale of a time. OK, I'm not up the Lemmey's standard, but I'm quite satisfied with the results. I've changed my regime. I still prime, but after the first battalion I've started giving the figures a black undercoat. This speeds up the painting and also give (IMHO) a better result. I have also discovered how much I really enjoy painting Riflemen.

Who will they fight? Well, I have Wurttembergers (396 inf, 80 cav, 30 art) and Bavarians (330/120/30) purchased and started buying some Poles (324/80/30). At some point I may need to get some French ... but to be honest they don't attract me as much as the French Allies.

It's taken me 8 years, but I have finally re-found my Napoleonic mojo!

I am one happy FSN.  :D

Oh, and I have the Prussians (420/120/30) bought and plans for Austrians and Russians.

I understood that perfectly, up to the  word 'Well'..
But after that...... :-\

Cheers - Phil :)

Lord Kermit of Birkenhead

OK it lists the Divisions and commanders, brigades, consituant Btns, and the artillery commander, so for 2nd - Clintons Division Adams Brigade has 1st Btn 52nd Rgt of foot, 71st Rgt of Foot, 2 and 3rd Btn 95 rgt of foot, the Rifles.

It demonstrates why British infantry are not fighting rgts, that is the administrative element.

That a bit better for your poor worn out brian Phil.

Incidentally the offical title of the OTC I was in was 5th Btn of Her Majesty's 8th (Kings Liverpool) Rgt of Foot, hence the abriviations.

Well done FSN, keep up the good work

I understood your post perfectly :-B I also recognise most of the names :-B :-B

Having a 'French' army with no French units is entirely historic

My 6mm 'French' forces for 1812 are from the Second Support Army so include Westphalians, Saxons and Poles but no French ;)

Me as a Knight of the Garter

I can see you being given a knighthood, Ian.....But I want something lots better than Sir Muppet of The Wirral....That doesn't sound nearly as good as Lord Oik of Runcorn.

Come on...Help me, guys !

There are definitely at least a couple of "For services in (?)* painting Pendraken figures"... In my imaginary inbox.

Cheers - The Sad Twit :)

*....That doesn't sound right either.

Lemmey has to be a "Fastest Brush whilst retaining a high standard"?

I will modestly accept the "Most diverse projects started without actually finishing, using Pendraken figures and  a spreadsheet".

I'd like to offer Goat Major the "Confidence Snake" (as in Snakes and Ladders) award for "Showing pictures of beautifully painted horses whilst FSN's confidence was on the rise, making him realise how far he had to go."

I like that, lots, Ian !

From now on, you may add Lord Kermit of Birkenhead to your signature.  :-bd

Now....For the rest.... ;)

And there ARE a good few more I want to add. (For services rendered to the best 10mm miniatures company in the World.)

Nobby.....Just put Oik of the year, each time we get to January 1st......And you're absolutely right about Will. (Lemmey) He's one of those who have been overlooked for FAR too long !)...He was on my list, already. ;)

Keep the nominations coming ! :)

I'm trying to think of acronyms....That aren't rude...That are a bit like CBEs MBEs and OBEs..But have something to do with painting Pendraken figures.

Cheers - Phil. :)
