Caught the first episode last weekend, and they sure was a lot of Zed killing.  Looking forward to tomorrow evening for episode 2.  Great stuff and lots of twists.  Anyone else catch it yet?

Yep.

25 mins of show / 35 mins of adverts as ever.  'Joop Homme - for men who want to be women'...

As usual, there's lots of wandering about brooding lack of character development and about 10 mins of cool zombie killing; and NOTHING actually happened.  Again.

As ever with these US shows narrative stasis and crushingly plodding (lack of) pace rules.

Something nearly happened with the Andrea character's parallel plot line thing but it was about 1.04 secs of screen time so couldn't really develop much.

The show suffers a bit from the two main characters, Rick and Lori being utterly un-engaging.  The show would do well to kill this tedious pair off.

There are a couple of interesting characters developing.

Their son Carl's really coming through but needs to be a bit more rebellious against his feeble, dull parents.

Daryl and Carol's sweet little on/off flirting thing is good.

Glenn and Maggie are underdeveloped but have potential to shine if the writers would allow them (incidentally i went to uni with Lauren Cohan who plays Maggie so i'm biased).

Theodore NEEDS more screentime.  'Who'? you say.  That's right, the black fellow who appears to be there to tick a demographic box but who gets no storyline to speak of and is there simply to make up the zombie-killing numbers.

I'm sticking with it for two reasons:

1. The wife loves it
2. Its got zombies

But its really like almost all other US shows; week after week where NOTHING HAPPENS.  Complete narrative stasis.

Read the original graphic novels, far better than the TV adaptation

Have done.

Personally i quite like that the TV series has taken slightly different directions.
