some info re scenery

Hi all

Some of you may have seen me floating about the forum on and off for about 12 months now, admittedly more off than on but hopefully this will change.

I first started buying pendrakens 10mm with ww2, a step down in size from 15's for me. The rules I like to use in conjunction with the company ish sized games didn't leave a lot of room for a tactical game so 10mm seemed the obvious choice, and pendraken even more so  . This has now led me to collect pretty much solely in 10mm, makes sense.......... one scale of scenery etc etc......

...... now this leads me into the scenery question have I missed something or is there a woeful lack of choice in this scale?

So far I have:
Pendraken
Timecast
Magister Militum
old glory a few bits
Rod langton ACW
Fieldworks
The baggage train bits and bobs

some of the above ranges are small and maybe not to my tastes, I asked after the old glory range recently at Derby and was informed they may or may not be in stock but they could be got eventually..... maybe the C.S. or focus could have been a little more interested 

And I know N gauge railway kit is servicable, but is limited.

So have I missed some? any info would be marvelous, further to that what would you LIKE to see?

Would be good to hear what you all have to say as 10mm fans.

With regard to Baggage GTrain - Steve does do requests, but is trying to rebuild the Atlantic Wall at the moment. Also has a fair bit of stuff that is not on his site......

With the N-scale options included, there's a decent amount of kit about, so it really depends on what you're looking for?

I personally am not looking for anything specific for the time being, just looking over the market generally and asking the questions to expand the collection etc and to see what is and what is not available.

You've covered most of the main manufacturers

Kerr and King do some desert stuff in 10mm and some of their 15mm stuff will work fine.

I like the Kestral plastic kits, which are meant for railways.

I have also used a fair bit of brick or stone embossed plastic card to scratch build ruins.

Since you mention WWII specifically these three are mostly tangential, but for the sake of completeness

Total Battle Miniatures: http://www.totalbattleminiatures.com/skirmish/10mm/darkage.html Only Dark Age 10mm stuff so far, but they are exquisite!  (These are the only ones I actually own.)

Whilst nosing around the web recently I also noticed that Kallistra do Dark Age and Medieval stuff, whilst Irregular have a small selection of 10mm bits and bobs.

Some of The Square's buildings are a touch small compared with Timecast, being 1/200th, but I'm quite happy using them for my WW2 terrain. They are a very good price!

In my collection I have quite a few bits of terrain intended for 15mm or even 6mm that fit in fine for 10mm. Walls, fences, hedges, bridges etc.

There are also a few small scale/part time manufactures making nice stuff. I picked up some nice trees and a super little walled vineyard, with removeable vines, from theTreefellers at Sheffield. Unfortunately they only really trade at shows, and only those in the North of the country! Their 6mm bocage looked as if it would have been fine for 10mm.

For 20th century games there is actually quite a lot available in the N gauge railway stuff, especially if you do not mind card buildings.

Of course, keeping an eye on the dreaded Ebay is an idea, there seems to be a new terrain maker selling their wares turn up every month or so, that said some of those I bought from in the past have also disappeared!

Consider using 6mm terrain. I find 10mm look too big in relation to the entire battlefield.

Bryan I came across your blog via google, with some of the reviews you have written, very informative and thank you for taking the time to do so I have to say that the company you mention does have a good range, shame they are in the states 

Along with WW2 I also have SYW and soon ACW , but also planning ECW, Medieval, samurai and Vietnam....so I will require a fair old range eventually

spot on I'll post some pics over the weekend but using 6mm buildings setg into city segments/farms etc and they look real fine, hedges make your own from woodlands scenics clump foligae again spot on pics to come, umm trees, woods most recently i'm a convert to Architects of War Woods, gaming wise spot on again
