Ordered new Falklands figures 05/09/12 and just arrived today 21/09/12 excellent service.
this gives me something to paint over the weekend Weather here to bad to go battlefield touring but these figures will be painted as Marines/Para's and Guards Just waiting for Helmeted Brits and Argies to be released HINT HINT  ;)

just a quick question I'm out of the EU so I can claim my TAX back so how do I go about this.  :-[

I thought you had to claim the VAT back at the point of departure? I also think you need a non-UK passport. As you are on the Falklands IIRC Sean, they are a British Overseas Territory , again IIRC, which might complicate things.

But then all of the above could be complete b*ll*cks!

Good to hear the order arrived safely, and it's pretty cool that someone is painting up the new range on the Falkland's themselves!

On the VAT thing, as you've ordered to a BFPO address, as far as our website/basket goes, it's classed as a UK order and would have the VAT applied.  I don't know how that works on claiming it back though I'm afraid, could be one to ask the postal guys at your end?

How much is this tax you people are crushed by?

VAT is 20%, and is applied on all orders within the EU.  It's taken off any orders outside that zone.  I'm not sure what the import taxes are for other countries though, compiling a list of them could be pretty useful actually.

It's around the same as a lot of countries I think, I think Canadian customers pay 22% of any goods value when they're package enters the country, the US has different rates for each state, etc.  Is there anything in place in Thailand?

That's pretty steep.

You've hit your 1000 posts now I see!   :-bd

Import tax is varying depending on country of arrival, origin and the type of goods Leon.
Can be quiet substantial eg. orderng shoes from China the tax and cost was 50 â,¬ for a pair of shoes worth 100 â,¬ so I passed.

In the UK there is a ruling that those taxes (not the cost) are waived if they are under such and such amount.

Lets just say some "borderline" orders/amounts it depends on how willing to work the customs officer in question is...so far I was lucky :D got a 200 USD order of spaceships without even inspection. Makes you wonder what else they let in the country unchecked, no offense.

As for the problem at hand: BFPO = UK adress, no chance you can reclaim anything. AND the claim has to be made AFTER tax has been paid. Have been working with Americans in Germany (yes it was pretty bad) and first they had to pay the German VAT and then reclaim SOME of it via some office /accountant. Do not ask me the full procedure but depending on the amount in question some customers preferred to let it go.

They've recently clamped down on it in the UK, and I think the lower level is £15 now, where VAT + an £8 handling fee is charged.  Then I think the next level is £36 where a £12 handling fee is put on top of the VAT.

Our customs duties are very erratic.

Hi all

and thanks for the answers tax on my Order wasnt crippling only around £3.00 but hey nearly 2 more packs. As a serving Member of the British Armed forces I am allowed to order taxed goods in UK tax free If I wasnt in UK. I.E ordering goods from amazon all I do is e mail  them that I am outside of the UK and I can claim my tax back. in Germany this is a bit more complicated due to having fill out tax free forms with HM customs to claim it back.

But being a UK passport holder does not mean I have to pay UK tax if Im outside of the EU.

I also feel quit3e chuffed to be able to paint the new Falkland's range out here I will take lots of photo's and try and paste them here.

regards
