Can I first add my applause for the emerging range of 1980s Falklands war figures - (and AFVs !!) now arriving at the Pendraken casting bench.
If you want some eye candy, I strongly urge you to look at the masters in the Falklands thread.

If I could be so bold to make one request for an Argie AFV it would be the Panhard 90. To my knowledge it was the only Argie AFV to engage and was one at least was knocked out by 2 Para (I believe using a Charlie G and not Milan ?).   This historic action itself inspires a very playable skirmish "on the road to Stanley" which is (a) in daylight and (b) makes a welcome break from infantry V infantry action.

The Panhard is not available in any 10/12mm range and would have WIDE customer appeal to the bush war brigade.

Second that request for a Panhard 90 - v. useful in all sorts of modern wars

Since blogging the above, I have done some google research on the performance of the Panhard in the 82 war.
Several sources (including the OC  of the Panhard unit !!) state that the vehicles found the Falklands terrain hard going and were restricted to the roads and rough tracks.   This contrasts sharply with the Scorpion with its low ground pressure.  These light AFVs could go where a man would struggle and sink to his waist.

To put this in context, much of the Falklands offroad is deep muddy peat. All 4x4s are challanged. One account states that by Wireless Ridge, the Panhard crews were fighting dismounted as infantry.  No AFV crew likes doing  this, so conditions  must have been dire to tactically abandon a very useful 90mm gun platform.

There was no recorded  incident of an armoured  engagement, and one account relates that the one Panhard destroyed was hit by Naval gunfire.  I have no reason however to doubt my source and will look for other primary evidence that it was a MAW that did the damage.
Feel free to join the search
