Mooching round my local branch of Hobbycraft and saw decent sized pots of acrylic paint by these folks http://www.decoart.com/ - not sure what the coverage is like compared to Vallejo, there seemed to be a reasonable range, anyone used them ?

Yeah, I use decoart, they are not bad, some colours are better than others (some of the metallics are a bit dull, so your better off with a brighter one, but theyre ok for terrain etc)
The good thing is that they are pretty cheap too, I picked some up from a local craft shop for 99p a few months ago!

These kind of paints are generally better for terrain than minis, but for this they are great value.

Also good for terrain are sample pots of emulsion from DIY shops

I use art & craft paints exclusively these days. As stated by others coverage is variable but I found that to be the case with model/game paints too, as a rough rule of thumb the Americana range cover a bit better than the Crafters one but difference in performance is marginal. Never used vallejo so cannot compare to them. More than happy with the results I get and have no plans to change to anything else. Others I currently use are Folkart, Docrafts, Reeves and Hobbycraft Acrylic, I've largely stopped using Daler Rowney or Windsor & Newton on a regular basis.

I'm the same, I just use whats at hand, but tend to have allsorts of different companies paints, I mix and match the colours by eye so seldom use a colour straight from the pot/tube.
with the decoart ones, some are great colours and coverage, some are poorer, but dont let that put you off, generally they are OK!

Excellent, in that case I shall give some a go with my newly arrived French Naps - if my figs are properly primed before and varnished after then £1.49 for a 60ml bottle seems great and should last for ages 8)

Yes, I use anything to hand - Anita's, Coat d'armes, Tamiya or what have you. I've never seen the need to remortgage the house just to buy the Foundry paint kit. Even if the Management would let me....  #-o
