At the suggestion of Mr Squirral I thought I would set up this thread to see if anyone had any good ideas about running WFRP games and specifically in 10mm.

For example I am planning on running the combat parts of my games using 10mm minis. This way my players can see the action unfolding and I can afford more than a few minis.

We've only just started the official campaign from the back of the 2nd ed rules and I think I may move on to the following stories - Middenheim, Aldorf finally Nulan(?) - but if anyone has any stonking scenario ideas then I'd be REALLY pleased to hear them!

Tom

Are there any appropriate Skaven, Lizardmen or Chaos Mutant figures?

Maenoferren

I run my firefly and dinosaur hunting roleplay games in 10mm so it does work and as you say you get more bang for your buck with 10mm.
I ran a wfrp games in Bretonnia, basically a chase of a necromancer as he headed towards the barrows.
as for figures I will have a think.
cheers

Sometimes I wonder - why is that frisbee geting bigger - and then it hits me!

fred.

Pendraken has Lizardmen, the tribal ones are particularly nice. They also have rat men. Not so sure about chaos mutants though.

The renaissance ranges are worth a look as well as the medieval for humans.

You might also want to look on eBay for the GW Warmaster command packs, these come with several characterful figures that would be good for RPG. The Empire Skirmishers pack is also good for individual figures.

I ran Ashes of Middenheim once. (Hehe, midden...)

*SPOILER ALERT*
There is an occasion when the characters are potentially poisoned by warpstone. This happened to a player in my group and he was very upset about it due to the circumstances at which it occured. Use with caution.

I'll see if I can remember anything more of interest later. At work now so I should well, ehm, work.

Excellent.  I still prefer 1st Ed. ('small but vicious dog' anyone?), but you've done well selecting 2nd Ed. over 3rd Ed.  which is an abomination fior which FFG shall not be forgiven.

Certainly are!

The Ratmen fantasy army does pretty much what you're after for the Skaven.

There's a selesction of lizardman and newtman armies that are jolly good.

As for the Chaos mutants, well, the dungeon monsters range will probably give you a few options.  I belive there was also a 'Chaos Champion' style figure that was recently released too.

I'd also point you at the Fantasy Beggars army range for really 'WHFRP-style' citizens...nasty, grubby, downtrodden, degenerates...

For further WHFRP adventures, 2nd Ed. did a whole range of scenarios and books.  Ebay will be your friend there i suspect.  also if you can pick up some of the old 1st Ed. classics i recommend; 'The Power Behind the Throne', Death on the Reik', and the Doomstone series.

What i love about WHFRP is that you're not 'heroes' as such, just people, and you spend most of your time running away from gribblies and trying not to die of dysentry (harder than it looks on both counts)...i remember playing Death on the Reik with 1st Ed. where much to the annoyance of our GM we spent pretty much the whole campaign deperately trying not to engage with the plot which frankly seemed far too dangerous to be bothering with.  We tended to rarely get off the boat, let alone do any 'adventuring', which at one point led the GM to have a wild bear wander on board while we were moored up.  We hid until it found its way into out food-stuffed cargo hold where we promptly locked it in.  It stayed on board for the rest of the journey, with us staying up the other end of the boat...

Really? My other half has expressed an interest in FireFly role play (Don't even go there filthy forum!  #-o) so I would be interested in the rules and figures you use for both.

Do you have any notes for this? I've got the Bretonnia suppliment and many of my PCs are C15th reenactors so might be a fun side quest.

Ha ha! Judging on how one of my PCs played when we had a little run through I think they would initally embrace the warpstone, literally maybe!, until they realised the consequences - tee hee for me  :d
Any ideas you have please send them on, much appriciated.

It just so happens I found my 1st ed rule book. It looks fun but I think I am drawn to the art and the fact the 2nd ed book doesn't feel like a door stop tomb! Not tried 3rd ed but it looks curious. A complete departure from 1 and 2 so I understand.

I'll keep my eye out for them. Surely though they must go for silly numbers of ebay?

I could not agree more with you in terms of why I like WFRP and I love your bear story! Might just have to send the PCs along in a boat and see how they react to Paddington getting curious!
One of my favourite characters was a messager. Part of your starting kit was a horse so at one point a dirty great load of beasties popped up. "Bugger" said my fellow PCs "Bye!" said I as Dobbin the horsie took me very quickly in the OTHER direction!

On xxxx there's a load of WFRP stuff including source books and campaigns, just join up and download whatever PDF's you like (Not sure how legal it is to own the files, but shouldn't be any problems if you do it for personal use)  ;)

EDIT: Link snipped.

Cheers for the idea Win. I've found 4Shared quite hard to find files though. If you type in something, even something pretty general not a great deal comes up. Any suggestions?

I'm not sure on the legalities there either, so I've snipped the link out of that post just in case I'm afraid.

I remember playing this in late 80s early 90s and loved the graphic critical hit table. I got the rulebook in 2000 along with some supplements but couldnt find character sheets but one day i wandered into Wargames Emporium and they had the yellow book with character sheets and templates for an inn etc....they are now gathering dust in my loft but youve inspired me to venture forth with lantern into the loft. I enjoyed Dragon Warriors in mid 80s and managed to get Dragon Warriors,The Way of Wizardry and The Elven Crystals for under a tenner. Love the combat system Attk - Def roll under with D20.Got a load of FF gamebooks as well in the loft. Liked Caverns of the Snow Witch the best with the battle of Stonebridge at the end. Sorry for the long post..Happy gaming :)

Hi Gran,

Games Emporium Sheffield? As a fellow Sheffield resident I know it well!
Patriot Games on the Wicker has a REALLY good selection too, better than Emporium in my opinion.

That said a really good place for all things RPG and specifically WFRP price wise is drivethrurpg and rpg now. I think the GM pack and toolkit I got from there is without doubt one of the best WFRP purchases I have made: http://rpg.drivethrustuff.com/product/63139/WFRP-GM-Pack-and-Toolkit?src=s_pi so many joyous tables and fun things to make a world and 'break' a player  8->

If however you fancy passing on any WFRP stuff please feel free to message me. Depending on what you have I'd be more than willing to give you Dragon Warriors money for it  :D

It just so happens I have just been having a conversation with one of my players about carrying stuff. The fool then reminded me of starvation, ignorant of the fact that his party is about to embark on a 6 day treck through VERY dangerous forests with 90 refugees on foot and very little food and drink -  :d

I'll let you know what ive got which youve probably already have... I worked at the back of Patriot Games in the furniture shop before they sold the building which is where i got the WHFRP book from i remember when they were in the Castle Market.Use to pop in regular and if they didnt have what i wanted i use to toddle off to the Space Centre to buy loads of Dragonlance novels and comics  which are in the loft as well plus my Dark Elf & High Elf armies. Wargames Emporium use to have some bargains in cardboard boxes. But having being made redundant last year i havent been in for a while..getting really stuck into my lead mountain now i have the time...get back to you shortly :)

I might have... I will have a look.. I know i did maps and stuff as well as used the supplement to get some ideas, but if  and it is a bit of a big if I find them you can have them no problems
