Lots of VBCW fans here, so perhaps someone has looked at the colonial source books or played with some of the ideas.  What do the creators of VBCW generally envision for Canada?

Hi lentulus

From the postings at GWP http://gwargamesp.18.forumer.com/index.php?showforum=4 Canada seems to be in the camp of Albert, brother to Edward. I haven't seen the Empire source book (apparently Prince Albert sought refuge in Canada at the start of hostilities and part of Canada had been invaded by the Soviet Union) or the new Albertine book.

A few relevant posts:-

I'd have a look at your local history for that period and see if there is anything that you could use, if not, just go with anything that grabs your fancy.

Yep.

This is the essence of AVBCW.
Do a bit of local research in your home town or area, and use anything interesting or fun that your find...

You also learn a thing or two about your locality too!

In Canada, i'm sure there will be all sorts of history around the 1930's and a 'pro- / anti-' British split in the local communities.  some very interesting options will no doubt present themselves.

No doubt those Frenchie types will have a word to say as well  :-X Helps to add to the mix  ;)

With the sheer size of the country I can see all sorts of logistic fun.

Also if I remember there was a program about the US plans to invade Canada during the early 30s. Would this inspire the oh so manic McArthur and others to flex their muscle  :-\

I know the VBCW is effectively 30's, but is there a putative start date?  Matters for the transition from Dominion to Sovereign status for Canada.

And making up local stuff from local knowledge is part of the fun, but there are sometimes some neat ideas that come from outsiders.

BTW: One of those little details that has become more widely known since a certain movie came out:  Prince Albert was fully bilingual and did not stutter in French.  Quebec society had a component, largely in the ruling and middle classes, that was Francophone but "More British than the British"; as George the VI, Albert was well thought among those sectors because his French was better than his English.

Didn't know that about Albert! Thanks, you live and learn  :D

1936 Is when it starts to go wrong, by '38 it's all out warfare. However there is no reason you can't come up with other dates and reasons why Blighty goes belly up!

Once you start to look at the 20-30s it makes your head spin how close everywere was to going to hell in a hand cart.

This is where it all starts http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edward_VIII_abdication_crisis

The simple contention is...Edward doesn't Abdicate...

All the conflict follows that.
