I just finished watching a recent Korean film called The War of the Arrows and it was terrific- highly recommended.

Things I learned:

Mongols are scary

Tigers are scary

Arrows are scary

Never underestimate Koreans

This movie has some of the best archery scenes I've ever seen.  Some of it must have been done with computer (lots of scenes with arrows coming right at you) but it was not obvious and was very effectively done.

I saw it on Netflix, so if anyone has that they can watch it instantly online.

I am rather a fan of Korean films, I'll have to look it up.

Has anyone bought any of Kallistra's new Korean range?

Just had a look.

Pity the figures are a weird scale :(

Not 10mm, not 15mm.

Great if you only use their figures :-\ =)

Mmm, they are 12s, not 10s. But that's less of a height differential than there is between me and my favourite opponent. In an army with less than Brigade of Guards standards, it's not really a problem. I've mixed some K. with Pen. and Irreg. Min, and even those Mag. Mil. midgets, in my Muscovite, Turkish, and Chinese armies, and they have not excited and David and Goliath jokes.

As a long time resident of Korea, I must say that Korean films have gotten a lot better over the last decade.
The best that I have seen recently is 'I Saw the Devil'.  Though it is not related to wargaming in anyway, it is excellent.  It is about a man seeking revenge against a serial killer.

I would definitely recommend The War of the Arrows, too.  It is about the Manchu invasions of Korea in the 1600's.

One of the best war films ive ever seen was set in the Korean war where two brothers get drafted in, the elder brother tries to protect his younger brother and tries to win the medal of honour so his brother can be sent home in his place. Brilliant fight scenes and abit gory but i really enjoyed it. I cant for the life of me remember what it was called as i watched it at a mates house.
