Nearly there with the first Brigade of British Infantry.  These are all from BP2 and BP37.  I will get them varnished and flocked this afternoon while watching the Rugby

Love the figures, but the bases need some wire or roughing up I think, most shots of WWI battlefields are churned up, especially 1916 - late 1918, otherwise it's all a bit:
General Melchett: Where's my map. Ah.... God, it's a barren, featureless desert out there, isn't it.

Captain Darling (whispering): Other side sir.
You may refer to me as: Your Grace, Duke Speedy of Leighton.

Yep,
that's the next stage.  I paint the figs first then the bases  Not completely sure how these are going to end up.  I had seen some flowers that looked liked poppies but I have some reluctance.....
I have the Wales Ireland match to formulate a plan (and paint 15 bases of infantry)

Techno

Wales, Ireland ? ;)
S'funny...That's not I've been watching....FOR THE GRAND SLAM !!!

Si Tyler

I had meant two matches.......But I will leave the interpretation to you.
Congrats to Wales thorougly enjoyed the first match  :D my Half Welsh sons were winners which ever way today went  8)
Second match on with first 6 battalions done and trying to get the last 3 battalions and support weapons based.

Leon

These look great, nice mix of poses.  Looking forward to seeing which way you go with the bases.

These have the "simple" bases which is straight flock.  I have undercoated the "interesting" ones but am waiting for the postman with some nice bits from Antenocis' Workshop

Ben Waterhouse

Really look the part, I for one like relatively uncluttered bases.

Si Tyler

These are the intermediate bases which I did this afternoon (five variants)

I am only doing one base per Battalion and using that one base to try out different ideas.

fred.

I do like those bases with the bits of wire. Are you going to try some with some craters?

These figures are looking really good. Its also interesting to see the much lower figure density for these figures, compared to the 20 or so I'd be putting on a similar base for Fantasty / medieval.

They look really good....

What paint colour are you using for the uniform?

Cheers

If I were creating Pendraken I wouldn't mess about with Romans and  Mongols  I would have started with Centurions , eight o'clock, Day One!

Leon

These look great, the little snips of wire for shells is a nice touch as well.

QuoteWhat paint colour are you using for the uniform?

I use thinned Vallejo English Uniform over a white undercoat and then GW Devlan Mud over the whole figure once I have done the weapons, webbing and faces.

The shell cases are the first attempt.  The problem with snips is that you get the "cut" end.  As these are the first of three Field Regiments worth, I am going to saw the next ones.

Not too sure on the craters thing just yet.  These will need to fulfil 1916+ Offensive as well as 1918 Defenders and 1917 in between so I want to keep the bases generic as possible.  I might do the odd one or two as a special to see how they look

Si Tyler

I have now finished (90% level of detail) the 1916+ British in this phase of my project

I will add some more detail to these IF: Time is available and my next project lets me.  If not good enough to game with
