I posted some photos of my first Prussians on my blog. Really nice figures. I have some Austrians on deck.

Nice, can i make a suggestion? give them a darkening wash, tone that blue down a teesy bit.
Don't buy your daughters a pony, buy them heroin instead, its cheaper and ultimately less addictive.

I'd agree, nice figures, good painting ,but very very bright! Mehaps: a watered down grey or black wash over those would work wonders (and a brown wash over the bronze), artillery I always dry brush with mud to dull them down too.

Thanks for the advice. I am a fair painter at best and mostly just slap on the colors. The dright colors may be a result of the lights I had on the figures for the photos? I will try a dark grey wash as suggested to try and darken a bit. Can anyone suggest a basic color paint for Prussian uniforms? I was just using my standard apple barrel blue. Maybe I should be using a darker color. In 6mm I usually go lighter.

Should have checked the forums first found Mad Lemmey's advice.

Jackets: Coat d'Arms Deadly Nightshade

Think I will purchase some paint and redo the jackets.

I'd try the wash first - it'll darken & may well save you the job of repainting!  :)

Before you consider repainting...I have found that my 6mm French painted with GW Ultramarine (61-33) look fine to the eye but when photographed in strong sunlight (luckily a rarity here on the Isle of Man) look quite garish. Photographed under artificial light they look fine. Perhaps you should try a couple more test photos before repainting. Nice looking troops by the way.

Thanks again all gave them a light black wash and they look a bit darker now. I tried to get a color like the pictures I see on the forum. I will post updated pictures and perhaps some Austrians shortly.

Bernie

Very neat painting and lovely bases

A few more Prussians and some Austrians on the blog. Still very much a work in progress but very nice figures.

Black undercoat, Vallejo Dark Prussian blue basecoat highlights with Royal Blue works really nice

Looking great!  The Prussians now look spot on, and you are doing a great job on the Austrians.

Keep going,
