Jun 29th 1644 - Charles I of England defeats a Parliamentarian detachment at the battle of Cropredy Bridge, the last battle won by an English King on English soil.

Jun 30th 1559 - King Henry II of France is mortally wounded in a jousting match against Gabriel de Montgomery.

Jul 1st 1690 - Glorious Revolution: Battle of the Boyne.

Jul 2nd 1839 - Twenty miles off the coats of Cuba, 53 rebelling African slaves led by Joseph Cinque take over the slave ship Amistad.

Jul 3rd 1754 - French and Indian War: George Washington surrenders Fort Necessity to French forces.

Jul 4th 1879 - Anglo-Zulu War: The Zululand capital of Ulundi is captured by British troops and burnt to the ground, thus ending the war and forcing King Cetshwayo to flee.

Jul 5th 1809 - The Battle of Wagram, the largest of the Napoleonic Wars.
