Any oe know which packs are wearing caps, rather than crested helmets? I know BA7 is wearing caps, any others? And does it include command?

Chad

The Command is in helmets.

Do you especially want caps, or are you trying to avoid them? If you want cavalry in caps the Saxon reiters will probably do. Saxon infantry officers wear shakos.

Figures in caps is what I need- if I decide to do Bavarians next that is.

Saxons will do and probably Prussians in Feldmutz would pass as well. Just wondered if there was any cap-wearing Bavarian officers, standard bearers and musicians about. Its a tough call for me as my 1866 expansion may actually be to do French....that would mean adding one army but expanding the scope to include two new wars to fight which makes it rather a tasty and good value option. However then I would need Bavarians in helmets......

Saxon Command are in caps, but the standard bearer has a precast flag. I haven't decided if I should simply remove the flag or the pole as well. Problem is part of the flag casting is attached to the head.  :-\

OK, this is sacrilege but Irregular sell individual WWI officers in caps, which at this scale fit the bill for me.

The Saxon command I have actually wear shakos. I can only think the figures have been re-modelled.

Incidentally, the cast flags on the standard bearers are reasonably easy to paint, compared to some I've come across. Cutting them off would be a real pain, I reckon.  :(

The samples Leon sent me were in caps from the old 1866 Saxon range.

I'm afraid I simply do not have the ability (or eyesight) to paint the cast-on flags. Yes it is a pain!!   :(

It is a 2012 project so maybe, just maybe, Leon will do a generic standard bearer in cap (French Voltigeur of the Guard command would be good too!).   ;)

I sympathise with the eyesight problem. I've been using a magnifying glass with built-in light for some years now. Dosn't help with the shaking hands, however.  :'(

We're all clocking on a bit - I now paint in contact lenses plus reading glasses - even in 28mm!

I don't even wear my contacts anymore if I know I'm going to paint.  I only wear them for golf and hockey.
Even with my glasses I wear reading glasses over top of them!  They call me Dale 6-eyes. :)

Paintings the only time I need reading glasses so I'm putting off bi-focals as long as possible.

I use one of those magnifying head sets. Very good, but you end up seeing so much detail I think the figures actually take longer to paint! And you can easily see all the mistakes you make.   :-[
