Fear not. I'll complete the militia before anything else goes on (although I may start a RCW photo thread). It does give one a wonderful sense of freedom though (now where's that Mel Gibson Scottish figure?).

Here are examples of the three militia units for the Romano-Britons. Each unit has its own shield design mainly for wargames identification. Historically I think individual soldiers turned up with their own shield design. For these troops it's the dress that varies and the distinct lack of armour which marks them out as militia.

Sometimes I think showing them that size actually detracts from the whole point of them being 10mm - ie. they look better when viewed from a couple of feet away doing their stuff on the table.

Oh bugger! James White's just published an article in the current WS&S showing how to paint the self same figures. Could have done with that three weeks ago. Still, some very useful ideas there and it's only the start of a series on 10mm painting.

Yep, 10 mils are all about massed formations. Nice work though, DP.

Yep, nice article in WS&S, had a read of it the other day.  Good to see some of our Painting Comp winners in the photo's as well!

First time ever I've managed to complete an (albeit small) army in only a month. Next will be the Saxon opposition. Here are the completed Romano-Britons for a Dux Britanniarum basic army photographed on a 6'x4' table at Liverpool Wargames Club.
