Hi

I'm not sure if I can mention another manufacturer here but they make resin kits of very unusual subjects so I hope that I'm not treading on Pendraken's toes here. Just delete the thread and give me a well-deserved thrashing with a wet centrifugal mould if I've overstepped the mark  :).

The manufacturer is Fairy Kikaku and they make such resin wonders as Carden-Lloyd M31, Ford Assault Car, Henschel Troop Carrier, and Ra-Type 15 Field Cannon in one pack.

Listing available here - http://www.hlj.com/cgi-perl/hljlist?Word=fairy%20kikaku&Dis=2&DisplayMode=images&Sort=std&qid=AERNKZJLBY8Q&set=1&q=1&Scale2=144. They also make some unusual aircraft available at the same place. The main reason I'm bringing it up here is that I was wondering how they compare to 10mm/12mm size stuff. With the wealth of knowledgeable people on this forum, I'm hoping to get some good information.

Cheers

Yeah, me and Dave were looking at that link earlier on tonight.  If anyone's got any info on how they measure up to our 10mm, we'd be interested as well.

Some quite interesting stuff there that I'd like in my collections - but at £14 per set, plus up to the same for postage, that's a lot of dosh for 4 vehicles!

Cheers,

Do look nice though. I'd be a bit worried about resin surv iving a trip round the world...

At last an advantage to living in the Antipodes, apart from the weather, lifestyle and exchange rate  :) , the price for me would work out about the same as 10mm stuff sent from the UK, or maybe a bit more.

The responses I've got back say things like:-

"The Fairy Kikaku range tends to be truer to 1/144th and as such is a bit larger then either Pendraken or Minifigs which are closer to 1/160th."

"Fairy models are often too large for 'true' - or fair - 1/144.

I only have now one M4A3 E8 that I failed to sell so far on eBay, and it's a tad too large indeed."

So they may end up being too large to be truly useful, more's the pity  :'( .

That's a shame.  Our vehicles are scaled to 1:150th, give or take a bit here and there, so they would be slightly smaller.

Yes, 1/144 vehicles do jar a bit with 1/150. BUT...the aircraft and MTBs should work well. I have just imported a number of beautiful 1/144 resin aircraft
RAF inter war types from Master Modeler Major (Ret) Don Schmenk. USA.  All well packaged and arrived intact.   Recommended. They blend nicely with
Pendraken.

Hi Sunray

Are these the same aircraft that are available from JSMWarplanes on eBay? Example here:-

These are also carved in basswood. If not, more details, including lots of photos, would be appreciated  :D :D

Have you heard of this little 1/144 manufacturer?

The planes look fine. Some rather unusual types as well.

HI guys.
Just thought I would add something here (will post in the newmembers area too) as I saw my stuff mentioned.
I am Peter, of Petersplanes fame  :)
I have resin 1/144 planes (mostly flyingboats and float planes as that is my passion) but also other 'interesting' aircraft too.
As I am VERY much a garage kit maker I have long lead times and low output and do it for the fun of it rather than the money (I have a full time job and family).
I have recently reduced the price on my 'GOLD' range of Beaufighter Mk.X and Spitfire Mk.XIVe kits for wargamers. This means they will not have the smaller bits like props, vacform canopy, undercarriage, rockets etc but are 30% cheaper than the usual kit.
'GOLD' range are planes designed by CAD and the master model made by CNC milling. They are up to commercial injected kit detail but are resin and have a range of options usually. By older kits were from wooden masters and are quite basic in comparison.

I am in the process of doing the following to 'Gold" standard as well:
Mk.II and Mk.VIII Beaufort,
Spitfire Mk.VIII,
Fw189,
Dornier Do17Z.

please feel free to ask questions or email me.

Hi Peter,

Many thanks for this clarification.  Most of us wargame with BKC, so need only a few basic types over the table, but you do get the odd gamer who likes to have an air war on the side.

Your kits look good, and thanks for making the link known
