🧭 Core Personality
Major-General Josiah Brexiton is a man defined by his unyielding commitment to making dramatic exits, followed immediately by not actually exiting. He is perpetually on the verge of resigning his commission, withdrawing his support, or marching his men "independently of all foreign influence", but somehow always ends up right back where he started.

He is earnest, self‑important, and convinced that history will vindicate him, even though history is already rolling its eyes.

📜 Running Gags & Traits
Threatens to leave the regiment after every minor disagreement, from rations to hymn choices.

Demands "sovereign control" over his company's supply wagon, despite having no idea how to run one.

Negotiates endlessly with other officers, only to reject the terms he himself proposed.

Holds referendums among his men on trivial matters like sock colour or marching pace.

Claims victory even when nothing has happened.

Blames all setbacks on "foreign meddling", usually meaning the next regiment over.

🪖 Reputation Among the Army
The Cavaliers call him "Captain Neverendum".

His own soldiers refer to him as "The Departing Captain" — a title he insists is "premature".

Senior Parliamentarian officers dread his arrival because it means another speech about independence.

🏰 Background
Born in the village of Little Sovereigne, Josiah grew up convinced that his destiny was to "free the parish from undue outside influence", which mostly meant refusing to pay tolls. When the Civil War began, he joined Parliament's cause, seeing it as the perfect stage for his lifelong ambition: to make a grand exit that everyone would remember.

My form teacher, and head of art, for the last two years of secondary school (188-1990) would march into the Head's office every Monday at 8.30, and hand in his notice.
The head would march into his room at 3.25 every Friday, and hand it back, unopened.
This went on for 10 years, same envelope, U
Until the head left (I know thos, because I went out with his daughters after I left the school and went to the local VI college, we remain good friends, 35 years later).
My form teacher wad the last teacher to kleave the school when it closed in 2013.
