My Pendraken sale purchases, Cold War Poles.


Catagory C Heavy Reconnaisance Company.
Main tanks will either be T-34s from my North Korean selection, or the T-55s on order from Pendraken, add another BDRM2 and they become a Cat A or B company.


PT-76s, BDRM-2s, and a bunch of Poles who don't want to be there.


The whole formation costs less than an Abrahams platoon!


And certainly won't last as long!


But at least this selection can all swim!

Finishing off the Polish Recee company, with option to take these as Catagory A or B troops, by adding another BDRM-2 and 3 T-55s.


By 1984, these are well outdated, but the Poles didn't hae the cash to do anything else.

Excuse my ignorance but are the base sizes constrained by the CWC rules?

I've played a lot of Spearhead and Modern Spearhead but none of the BKC/CWC/FWC series. Mind you the 30mm x 30mm standard base size for SH/MSH has its limits....try to fit a 1:285 Challenger 1 on one!

I've rebased a lot of my stuff but used 60mm x30mm bases instead for any larger sized vehicles. Leon's bulk 60x30 and 30x30 base packs have proved very useful indeed.

SH uses 32mm, I thought. All the stuff I've done fir a mate is on that dize anyway...

We started work on 50x25, or 25x50, which just happens to fit both CWC and Sabresquadron rules.
 If you look at my Falklands marines and Argentine stuff I also used 25x25s for heavier and support weapons.
Think our basing conventions came about after an evening in the pub, post game, when discussing new rules. Working on the 'if we both use dimension x by y then it doesn't matter' philosophy.

I also tend to build both sides, so as long as I am consistent with myself...

There are no 'standard' base sizes in BKC/CWC/FWC. The rules suggest recommended sizes but as long as they are conistant across a Battlegroup, the system is flexible.

Some miniums are a good idea as this helps restrain the urge to base some units (Infantry in particular) on the smallest frontage possible, to allow more to get into contact

I agree about the consistancy being important.

In most periods I do two (or more  ) opposing armies that will all use similar sized bases.

Likewise for me.

Certain rules benefit from consistant proscribed bases, but with the 'Commander' rules series it generally works best with flexibility.
