By December 1945 the USA had two. One built before the wars end but still in the USA and another built after the war.

However, I'm reminded of a hex WW3 wargame that included a nuclear scenario. Don't remember the games name.

The scenario can be summarised as "Soak the map and counters in lighter fluid. Light. WARNING: This scenario can only be played once."

I read that, I think it's in the Murphys Rules collection of cartoons from the Steve Jackson magazine.

When I was at uni someone had a story about a 6mm moderns.

Soviets come on. A single NATO recce vehicle is seen scurrying off. Soviets advance... nothing.

Still nothing...

Then the Nato players drop a single nuclear artillery shell. Umpires confirm all the Nato points went on that and the recce spotter.

That looks surprisingly good - I assume the coloured base edges can be switched off? But I also get why having them on will help with playability. 

Not entirely sure that having nuclear strikes linked to a tactical game in 1945/6 feels remotely plausible. And does it even make a good game with an off table event determining the result?

I'm not too sure other than it's for BKC4. Gordon Malcolm puts the scenarios together on TTS - I source the models for the game and help playtest the scenario

Franco-Prussian War: Coulmiers. (BBB rules.)

I umpired this twice over the weekend.

First was on Saturday at our BBB Bash Day convention - a splendid affair, maxed out for participants, everyone seemed to have a good time. (Many thanks to Leon for sponsoring us with donations of command packs for the relevant games, which I hope will have planted the seeds of a number of future 10mm armies.) A classic nail-biter with objectives changing hands repeatedly, all came down to the last few dice on the last turn, and ended in an honourable draw.

Second was on Sunday at the Joy of Six show. They had a game drop out last week and invited us to plug the gap so I did. This time the French managed to change history: historically, Coulmiers was virtually the only significant French victory of the war, but some youthful impetuosity meant the French left wing charged to its own destruction, then got rolled up by German cavalry on its flank.

All round good fun and introduced a number of new players to the joys of FPW.

Hugh Elves (High Elves, but posher) vs Gobbos.
Taking Scarlett though the rules, he opted the Elves.
Hugh Elves were fully tooled up, and got two big spells out at exactly the tight moment to seel the game and proved quantity is NOT a good quality as he smashed my Goblins.
