We had a school trip to London, probably in 6th form. Me and my mate went to a newsagent to look at an A to Z to find the GW shop (suspect at that time it was the only one) and went there to buy Drastic Plastic Orks - thanks for reminding me of this!

SWMBO can enjoy shopping along Princes Street then take in the scenic delights of Princes Street Gardens while making her way to Deacon Brodie's to join us for lunch then stroll the length of the Royal Mile enjoying it's historic splendour and many retail establishments before joining you in whichever of Edinburgh's many, varied and excellent restaurants you have selected to meet her at for your evening meal.

I find the same, although I've managed to keep away from the AWI despite the siren calls of the photos on the Pendraken website.

My answer is more likely to be SYW or LOA; the GW lad was intrigued by the LOA and the concepts that England and Scotland could have the same king and yet be separate and that the Netherlands was a major military player.

Always remember, as a teenager, going down to that there London to visit Games Workshop. We'd buy a child central rover ticket for the tube, have to get off the tube to go and buy a ticket for a couple of stops to Ravenscourt Park. Life became a lot easier when they opened their 2nd store in Manchester (used to get damaged citadel tribes from them for 10p a figure).

Strangely this was the closest central Manchester ever got to a proper 'wargames shop'.

Wandered down Dalling Road a couple of years ago, still looks exactly the same. The shop is now a flat, but looks no different really.

Remember going there in late 1979 the first time I went back to the UK. Met up with a couple of Kiwi gamers in London and we took the tube to Ravenscourt Park.

I can't remember exactly what it was I got but was served by Ian Livingstone, we ended up having quite a long chat about gaming.
