1977. Chester Odeon. I settle in to watch "The Longest Day" with my girlfriend. I did try and explain the basic plot before we went buuuuttt... "where is Robert Redford now?" was the oft repeated question.  :(

I'm confused.
Was The Longest Day reshown in Chester in 1977? (Released 1962).
I watched 'A Bridge Too Far in Chester Odeon in 1977- Redford's in that so your girlfriend's question makes no sense in that case.
Sad he's gone, but 89's not a bad run.

Redford and his men paddling across the Waal under enemy fire is an unforgettable scene.

(From a Bridge too Far).

So many classic films to his name, both as actor and director. A great innings and legacy too.

Love Jeremiah Johnson, one of my favourite films.

"Three Days of the Condor" (1975) with the wonderful Faye Dunaway.

Dickie Bird is in a tiny minority.

A sports official beloved by all the sport's followers.

I can only think of Rugby's Nigel Owens in the same league.

Absolutely!

Hugely respected and admired, by players and supporters alike. Umpires are not supposed to be stars in their own right, but he was, without ever impinging inappropriately on the game he loved. An all time great.

Claudia Cardinale, Italian actress.

Ecumenical side note.

Both passed on Rapture Day.

This means that Dickie and Claudia are now married in heaven and preparing to re-populate the cleansed earth.

I have neither the time nor the crayons to explain why you are wrong.

It was also Rosh Hashanah (but I have no idea what that means for either party's post mortem marital status).

I think given the ages of Dickie and Claudia, i think both are more interested in a cup of tea and a Digestive biscuit than repopulating a cleansed earth.
