Anecdotally yes. The various "last rules played" threads over the years:

2019 - 27 pages
2020 - 17 pages
2021 - 21 pages
2022 - 8 pages
2023 - 4 pages
2024 - 3 pages so far.

Dunno. Probably, but I've had a weird 2024.  :-\

I keep promising to create a games log for myself and I never do. Although I do some considered battles, most of mine are "I'm bored, let's spend a few hours in the games room".

I suppose I've just not got around to posting on most of my games played this year and probably last year too, alongside less games in the mix for a large part of this year. General posting has been down too for multiple reasons.

Dunno, don't count.  Play Sunjester usually once or twice a month.
I have neither the time nor the crayons to explain why you are wrong.

Playing with a couple of friends online, I'm playing 3 - 6 board games (using Board Game Geek) 2 - 3 times a week and I'm playing computer games online 6 - 8 hours most days (mainly MMORPGs).

Tabletop mini's games are much rarer beasts these days. More planning and purchasing than playing.

I'm still getting a game nearly every week, same as for the past decade or so. I occasionally post on the "Last rules played" thread, but not often as I don't want to sound like a broken record, so I've probably reported fewer games recently as I have less to say that is new and different enough to be worth saying.

Last Hussar

Yeah - I tend not to write up games. However let me pre-empt next year's posts.

I'm probably playing 3-4 times a month, which is similar to previous years. But whilst I do take photos of the games, I rarely get round to posting about them. Not sure why.

And I've very rarely posted on the last rules played thread over the years.

No.
I'm playing the same or more than previous years.
I'm simply not foruming about every game.

That the figures haven't recovered form lockdown levels suggest I'm not alone.

Fewer reported may be but level of gaming seems to be the same....

The choice is: play more or write about playing.

I would suggest that it is lower internet participation.

My 2023 was 80+ games (many of them boardgames) and my 2024 was about the same.

The goal is of course to have 365 games a year :-)

Ithoriel

A very rough calculation suggests I have played around 600 games on Board Game Geek in 2024.

I daren't check how many hours I've spent online gaming (no doubt Steam would tell me!). It definitely equates to weeks of play.

Tabletop miniatures games in the same time? I can recall only 8.
