Carlist War?

I scanned this forum and the late 19th century/colonial forum and didn't notice any requests for the Carlist War. Seems to be fairly popular in 28mm, there are some real good wargaming guides already available and another expected in the spring of 2024. I have unpainted armies in 15mm, but I'd sell those off in a heartbeat if I could get a nice quality 10mm collection instead.

I don't get the enthusiasm for the First Carlist War. OK, I do get it - there's a lovely range of 28mm Perry  figures and lots of eye candy as a result. But for a seven-year war, there's amazingly little for a big-battle enthusiast like me to get my teeth into: probably only one substantial action worthy of the BBB treatment.

Not knocking anyone's wish to collect pretty armies (I like pretty armies too) or preference for the aesthetic and dramatic over dry historical simulation. But maybe 28mm has got such a corner on that market that it wouldn't leave much for Pendraken?

You have to sell a fair few 10mm figures to make a project viable I would think.  I just wonder if these obscure wars can cut-it in 10mm.

If you are doing all the wars that François Achille Bazaine fought in then the First Carlist War is on the list.

It's also the first war where the French Foreign Legion fought on both sides at Barbastro in Jun 1837

I hear you. For me personally, I enjoy/prefer niche periods. I have always flirted with collecting some armies for the Swiss Civil War and right now I am painting up opposing forces for the Battle of Ridgeway which was the only incident one could call a battle during the Fenian Invasion of Canada in 1866.

I could walk by a hundred ACW and Napoleonic games without moving my needle but one game of the Mexican American War or Schleswig Wars and I'm all jazzed.

It's all horses for courses.

I Like the unusual, so understand the appeal. the problem is they are often not very commercial.

That's a pretty accurate estimate!

If we take purely gross margin (just the metal/labour/VAT costs) then 3 sculpts and a production mould would be paid off within around 45-50 packs sold. 

If we incorporate the wider expenses of the overall business then you can multiply that by 3 or 4 easily, so there's a lot more sales needed to break even.

All valid points...I was just placing an idea out there without considering the economic side (I naively supposed my side was to purchase and paint). My assumption was that if it was something others echoed a desire for that might warrant a consideration.

All suggestions are taken on board, no worries there, and I'll add another vote for the Carlist War range when I do the next update to the Request Lists. 

The range/pay-off info above applies to anything really and isn't always the reason we'd choose whether to do a particular range.  Naps or WWII will always sell and we could just work on those exclusively, but we like to offer ranges that people can't really get elsewhere, hence the South American Pacific War stuff, the Schleswig ranges, or the Russo-Japanese as well.
