Hi.  Sorry for the newbie question but I can't spot the answer in the rulebook if it is there...

What are the points recommendations for small/medium/large games?  What might be a decent sized game for a first attempt?

Cheers,
Colin

As its your 1st post Welcome. If you have not played very much start small, point up an ifantry btn awith supporting tank company and btn support weapons. So most would be 9 Infantry platoons, SFMG platoon, 1 Mortar pltaoon 3 tank platoons for most. Next game try adding artillery then Air Support. That will vary somewhat in points but say 1500 - 2000.

Colin, let me welcome you to the forum too.

As to sizes of games I'd say that 1000 points for small, 1500-2000 standard and 3000 for large. Anything over 3k is going to require deep pockets and wide tables! Bear in mind that at 1500 points you are supposed to use 1000 point min and max.

Some people ignore points entirely and just model real world actions or fictionalised versions of the same.

The groups I've played with have always used points to create fictional forces for entirely fictional encounters.

Bottom line, if you and your opponent agree then you can do what you like, the Pendraken Games Police aren't going to kick in your front door and drag you away :)

As I am wont to say, if you play solo and your opponent doesn't agree with you you have bigger problems than the rules! :D

Have fun!
