D J Scratch

Hello it's me DJ Scratch, and I am new to the forum. I live in a seaside town on the sunny south coast and I am mainly interested in buying 28mm figures and painting them. My overwhelming interest is world-building, ie creating fictional fantasy or science-fiction worlds.
My particular World, actually an entire universe is called 'Red Stars' and you can see it on You Tube.
As soon as I can work out how to link the video to this link, you can see it.
My favourite periods of military history are; ancient near-east, Roman, Byzantine, Rennaisance, esp 16th century, Meso-American, 18th century, Napoleonic period, 19th century especially the wars of 1845-46 as we have a huge bound copy of 'The Illustrated London News' for that period with wars happening all over the place, ie the Sikh Wars, Wars in the Caucasaus, the Polish Insurrection of 1846, wars in New Zealand, unrest in Spain etc.
Then there is the Twentieth century, WW1, WW2, Spanish Civil War (My grandparents were in Spain in 1934 and you could see the war approaching in the letters of my grand-mother) Vietnam War, Falklands etc.
I like to read Osprey books and have about 50 or so.
I also make music under the name of 'Ten Plus Two' on You Tube.
Anyhow I will say hello again soon....

Hi DJ, that's a huge interest list.

If you simply paste the URL of your video into a message, we will be able to follow it.

To do it nicely, the controls above your typing window include features to add YouTube, and something that looks like a three link chain to add other URLs.

Blimey - would it have been quicker to list what you're not interested in?   ;)
Hopefully you'll find a Pendraken range you like that suits one of your periods.

Good to have such a creative comrade join us. Welcome to the forum!

Welcome to the forum D J Scratch!

As has been said, an impressive array of interests! I often say I only do one period and one theatre - 1,000,000,000 BCE to 1,000,000,000CE and the multiverse respectively :)

Nice to see a fellow world builder here. My own home grown sci-fi background is The Imperium of the Sentient Mind (TIotSM for short). You can catch glimpses of it in my series of posts about my 5 Parsecs games. Campaign currently on hold while I deal things medical, legal and structural!

As to making music .... I have a singing voice ideally suited to silent movies :)

There are 100 types of people in the world, those who understand binary and those who can work from incomplete data

Hello thanks for your kind comments. I will try and provide a link to my You Tube video. If this link does not work then simply go to You Tube and type in 'Oliver Hammond Red Stars' and you should get it.
Many thanks for all your kind words. If I have a copy of 'The Illustrated London News' do I need their permission to post photos of their engravings on the forum?

Hello, yes that is my video. I still haven't been able to add it. I typed 'www.youtube.com/results?search_query=oliver+hammond+Red+Stars'; What do I need to change? Unless they just look at the video that you kindly posted. Oh well, I'll try to sort it out later.

The URL for your video is https://youtu.be/fJs9cv4cnpw

In the forum, you just need to put the last bit (in red) between the youtube markers so it looks a bit like this [ youtube]fJs9cv4cnpw[ /youtube]

I put a space after the [ so you can see what it looks like

If you start a response and quote my post with the video in, you'll see what I mean.

what do you mean by in between the You tube markers FSN?
Sorry I'm unfamiliar with this.

It's probably best if you just go to You Tube and watch it there.
Can I upload text files to the forum? that would allow me to just type out the text so people can read it.

The setting is based in some alternative universe about two or three hundred years in the future but with it's own unique physics and religion.

The human element hail from the planet of Severaillus where the main alien good guys the iKlaTha
intervene in the great worker's revolution headed up by the revolutionary leader Jamil Mafra Oort.

D J Scratch

In answer to flaming pig the setting is influenced by the Posidasts as I recently bought a book about them. There is a group online called 'The Intergalactic Worker's League' which is a direct result of his ideas.
If this is true then they are definitely a group you want on your side if you are on strike.
Can you imagine it;
Strikers 'Ok Sunnak hand over the dosh'
Sunnak 'Not on your nelly. Get back to work.'
Strikers 'Ok call in the Intergalactic Worker's League then'
A shiny flying saucer turns up overhead.
Sunnak 'What the hell is that?'
UFO carrying representatives of the IWL
'Comply with our requests-or be vapourised!'
What a brilliant bargining chip!
