I have to admit to being a long time lurker.  I have also been collecting Pendraken figures for quite some time.  Painting them has been a challenge, though there are painted Zulus, 8th Army, WWII French and a very few 1809 Naps around here somewhere.

Of late I have been assembling a large unpainted collection of 1809 Napoleonics to add to my Normans, Mongols and Arabs.  There are probably others that I have misplaced/forgotten.

So why expose myself now?  Should probably rephrase that. Part of the reason is that the local gaming community is rather small.  I do know of one other player who is collecting early war WWI, I have French for that project, but 28mm rules.  Add the recent difficulties with group socialization and advancing age and I find that I have limited opportunity for 10mm gaming.

So here I am looking to expand my gaming community to help with my total lack of discipline and focus.

I'll be following along with projects and continuing to develop ideas based on the fact that I, like most gamers, know more than rules designers. I expect to be asking questions, turning green with envy at the painting skills of others and encouraging Leon to make the figures I need at the expense of everyone else...

I also aim to champion 10mm as a counter to Epic (insert era here). The 1809 Peninsular project will certainly help with that goal.

Sorry no blog, Instagram, Twitter, Facebook or other newfangled distractions.

Welcome to the Forum Stewart, and thank you for exposing yourself. Nice intro.

As a long time lurker, you will already be aware of this forums ability to move off at a tangent, and with in three posts a Thread on peninsular Napoleonic's is discussing why the british did not proprerly adopt the 3.7" AA gun as an anti tank weapon.

I am sure various people will be able to assist with painting ideas/guides and what next you should add to your lead mountain.  I for one am jealous of those with only a lead mountain. I currently have a mountain range despite drastically reducing figure purchases in the last couple of years.

Hi Orc

Thanks, I'm planning 17pdr's for my Brits.  Now, I need someone to talk me out of it as I got my Char B's mixed in with my French Naps and sorting them is just too much trouble. Besides, I hate painting horses.

I think I may be on my way to a mountain range as retired and recently single I find myself spending FAR too much time online.   Must paint, cannot shop while painting...

Welcome Stewart :-h Thanks for the intro

One approach that may help with focus is painting a few units of each side, enough to give a small game.

Then progressively adding a unit or two to each side allowing larger and larger games...

My ranking says I'm a cadet.  Will Leon respond to demands for credit for all of the years I've been buying while lurking?  Just saying...

Good suggestion. My current Napoleonic plan is to paint command bases suitable for single base rules such as HFG and The Marshal's Baton. Once I have that done, I plan to expand each of the units to the size needed for 10mm versions of General D'armee and Black Powder.

Ok, that might just be what I think at the moment. The plan could change based on factors as yet undetermined like, I find that I am enticed by 30 years of War in Augsburg with Marlborough.

Did I mention I had a short attention span...

Well welcome.  I am sure this forum will help you reach a new standard of excellence of lacking discipline and focus.  I get re-focused to new periods every time someone posts!!  :D  :D

Absolutely. You may be focussing on Marian legions, then Pendraken release a range for the Risorgimento and next thing you know you're pouring over maps of the Po and eating Garibaldi biscuits.
