Yes, I know, there is a pattern emerging...

I can't find any uniforms for WSS Austrian Dragoons, but the rather fine Kronosaf site for SYW has loads of info.

When they replaced unforms did the colours/cuffs etc change colour, or can I use SYW as a guide (I know the uniform cut is different)
I have neither the time nor the crayons to explain why you are wrong.

Heres what Charles Grant writes in "From Pike to Shot":
Dragoons. The dragoons were dressed in coats of either red or blue. In place of the protection given by the cuirass they wore stiff leather jackets beneath the coat. Breeches were buff and high boots rather than gaiters were worn. The hat was a tricorn. ...
His table indicates three dragoon regiments:

Bayreuth (light blue coats, carmine lining, cuffs, waistcoat, breeches and schabraque
Castel  (light blue coat and breeches, carmine lining, cuffs, waistcoat and schabraque
Prinz Eugen  (red coat, black ling and cuff, red waistcoat, buff breeches red/yellow schabraque

I'm sure all your questions can be answered by purchasing the myriad of CD from Hall, Schorr etc available from "On Military Matters" In total they would be very expensive but they are very thorough.

Last Hussar

Yes, that's the problem.  The Austrian CD is £30.  I only need it for the dragoons.  I would spend 2-3 times more on the book than I would on the metal I need it for.

Austrian dragoons in SYW are completely different from those in WSS.

Last Hussar, tell me regiment who's uniform you are looking for and I give you details.
Or, if you need specific color for your regiment - I'll try to find a regiment who wore this color.

We are going for 'loud' - anyone who has tasteless uniforms.  Graham particully likes Barvarians (?I think)for the Sky Blue coats with Pink turn backs.

You could try the Saxe-Gotha regiment, in SYW:
Coat - red with light blue lapels, cuffs and turnbacks
Waistcoat - light blue
Breeches - straw/buff
Aiguillette - yellow
All dragoon horse furniture is black leather, shabraque is red with black Austrian eagle in rear corners and on pistol covers and yellow edging with white diamonds and a blue dot inside the diamond.

Or you could try the Archduke Joseph regiment:
Coat - green with red lapels, cuffs and turnbacks
Waistcoat - green
Breeches - straw/buff
Aiguillette - red

Prince Eugene of Savoy regiment:
Coat, waistcoat and breeches - red
All facings and aiguillette - black

If you're looking for a really garish uniform in WSS, try the Fels Dragoons in yellow with red cuffs. Or Althann in green, also with red cuffs.
When you realise we're all mad, life makes a lot more sense.
