QuoteNik Turner.  Founding member of Hawkwind.

Even after several decades, I am still a fan of Hawkwind

Same here - loved Hawkwind since buying their Space Ritual classic gatefold at Probe Records in Liverpool as a lad.  Saw them on their 50th anniversary tour recently (well, 2019) - they played some great old stuff, and the bass was throbbing again as in Lemmy's day...

John Cook

The old stuff, it seems to me is, on the whole, streets ahead of most of the rubbish produced these days.  Just 'coming down' from listening to Rory Gallagher so perhaps my objectivity is not what it might be :)

Ben Waterhouse

Just heard that Christopher Duffy has died.

Steve J

So sad to hear about Duffy, but a good innings and what a great legacy of books.

FierceKitty

Damn. That one is a real loss.
I don't drink coffee to wake up. I wake up to drink coffee.

Really sorry to hear of Chris Duffy's death. I was fortunate enough to tour SYW battlefields with him, and to meet-up with him on a number of occasions when I lived in Vienna. He was a charming, self effacing and humorous man, as well as the pre-eminent scholar in 18th century military history. His works in other periods, such as his fascinating book on the British on the Somme through German eyes, showed not just his scholarship, but also the breadth of his interests. The world is a smaller, and poorer, place.

My guitar hero, Wilko, right from Dr Feelgood days. Loved the way he never took himself too seriously..

Aye, that's a sad one. Motor Neurone Disease.

John Cook

Very sad indeed.  He appeared in a wheelchair prior to the Wales/NewZealand game in the Autumn Nations series a few days ago.
