Definitely not an unpleasant smell !

(Unlike petrichor...which I can't stand...Almost everybody else that I know has said that that's a lovely fresh smell.....Not to me it's not....Yuk !!)

I'm not sure if our MDF contains that?  The formaldehyde is usually in the resin that binds the material but the laser grade stuff that we use is held together with some kind of natural glue I think?  You can tell the difference if you run your finger along the edge of an MDF base/building.  If you get a line of black dust/soot on your finger, than it's been cut from regular MDF.  The sides will be a much darker black as well.  If there's almost no residue on your finger and the sides of the MDF are a more caramel colour, then it's the laser grade material instead.  The costs are higher on the proper laser stuff but it's much nicer to work with and doesn't give off as much smoke/soot.

I stand corrected.  Thanks for the Info and the tip on how to tell the difference.  I've found one item (that will teach me to buy from other suppliers) of the black and sooty type so I will defo avoid sniffing that.

Camera angles can produce some very interesting results.

If the camera is lower (pointing up) or higher (pointing down) than the object the lines of perspective will converge or diverge respectively.

On Thursday we'd got the machines over and then the tables and edging strips were done on Friday.  The machines need to be fixed into the floor so that's the priority for Monday.  Today we also sealed up the gaps around the partitions to stop any dust/grime/artillery wheels from disappearing under there forever!

We've also got the tables for the melting pots all painted and ready to go into place on Monday morning.

The mould making room is now all fully setup with the machines in, racking fixed to the wall, and wiring complete.

Upstairs we've completed most of the plasterboard work and also moved the original doorway down the wall by 6ft!  This door leads into a small storage room but we wanted to free up the left hand corner for my desk to fit in, and make it slightly easier to get the wiring/sockets installed.

And then today we got the extraction sorted out for the laser machines so that they can be up and running on Monday.  It took quite a while to get the circular drill through the metal cladding but we got there in the end!  For now we've just put a bit of extending hose on the outside but we'll get a proper cowl fitted up there next week.

So, we've got about an hour's work on Monday morning to get the machines fixed down and then we can restart casting.  We've got all of your pending orders stacked up here ready for the machines so we'll hit the ground running and start getting these out to you as quickly as we can.  With the laser machines working now as well there's no delays on anything really so it's nice to finally be 'open' again!

  We did a bit more digging on the name and we've found a previous occupant using Cleveland House so we're just checking whether this is still registered with the council database.  If it is then we'll just keep it, it's easier than getting things changed.
